Yorkshire banned from hosting international and major cricket matches

Banned until they sort the issues surrounding Azeem Rafiq's racism claims.

"In the meantime, YCCC are suspended from hosting international or major matches until it has clearly demonstrated that it can meet the standards expected of an international venue, ECB member and First Class County."

A major sanction and rightly so.
I expect there will be resignations soon.

There is a thought that Ballance may have been on a central conduct at one point which means he was employed by the ECB rather than Yorkshire. Not confirmed yet but the inquiry may shed light on it.
Also Joe Root the England test captain may be dragged heavily into this if he knew what was going on.
I have tickets for the NZ test next year. I hope Durham get awarded the match now.

Agree action needs to be taken and hope it gets sorted soon.

Recently bought tickets for the ODI with SA next year.

Board need to resign to get credibility back into Yorkshire CCC, this will hit their finances hard

I took the view that the ECB should have requested that the policy makers at Y.C.C.C resign because they have clearly failed in their duties to put measures in place. Y.C.C.C are already being penalised by their sponsors pulling out and no doubt supporters not returning. The other losers here are the cricket loving public and I don't think that is fair. BTW I also think the ECB are not blameless.

This is going to get interesting. Tickets have already been sold for the Test match in June and the ODI.
This would generally constitute a contract. Will be interesting to see how this pans out.

Same as Ballance. Suspended from playing for England. When will this take effect -2017?
Posturing by ECB.

Shame for those who have bought tickets and booked hotels .
Shameful from those running the club

I said to the wife last night that this might happen. Not only has Yorkshire's reputation as 1st class cricket club been tarnished, but they are also being punished financially and rightly so.

I love YCCC but I think they should be relegated for this backward thinking they have shown.

Being pedantic - but Yorkshire’s track record for over 30 years on racism is nowhere near 1st Class

Hello finny, nice to see you are still lurking in the shadows.

In my opinion, I think this type of thinking/behaviour will be rife throughout cricket both in the boardrooms and on the pitch, with participants trying to justify it under the disguise of sledging.

Well it's all coming out now, as I said previously the ECB are not blameless. Turned their back on Y.C.C.C after being asked to help in investigating Azeems complaints. It's clear Y.CC.C board didn't have the necessary skills to deal with this, a cynic may of course suggest that they didn't want to or hope that it will all just go away. It 's a very sad state of affairs when Azeems complaint could have been sorted out by the leadership on the training pitch.

I think that's the point though, any board in any industry in 2021 should have the skills necessary to deal with this. There are literally 1000s of HR/Inclusivity consultants who could have come in and sorted this (not just the issue at hand but the entire culture of the organisation). That the board either knew this and didn't act or didn't know this are two and the same to me.

As said before Yorkshire CC for many years have felt they are different and above the normal ethics applied to selection and treatment of players. To me there was some arrogance and racism there, that went unchecked for at least 50 years.

At present it appears a suspension which could be lifted if they can prove they acted correctly and in good faith.

I think some further clarification of using racist names in so called banter between people and possibly what is a racist term. To me the p**i word is racist and it should not be used between work collegues, even it is not meant to cause offence.

An interesing development is when used the p word and n word is used by a person from one of those groups to another person from the same group. To me this should be deemed racist too, because you can't have two different rules for the use of the same word.

its 2021, any organisation that doesn't take Diversity, Equity and Inclusion seriously, or only pays lip service to it, deserves to be out of business.
