Received from the Independent Age charity. We support and work with people 65+ to alleviate financial hardship, loneliness and isolation by bringing people together in their local community.
Could you please advertise our new project for older people in the Thorntree area of Middlesbrough on your social media? (Flyer attached). We are holding a launch event on 26th April with free refreshments, and fun and invite you to come along and see what we’re about!
We are partnering with Community Ventures every Wednesday 11am – 1pm to hold an adult youth club called Young at Heart! We welcome all ages, but especially those 65+ to come along and have a cuppa and either just read a paper or chat, or take part in activities such as table tennis, craft, board games.
There will also be people around to give advice and guidance on everyday topics such as scams, finances, community safety etc. Independent Age volunteers can also refer people to their helpline for more complex cases or their local caseworker for local issues.
