Your Boro Fact (s)

George Hardwick was team captain for all his England caps including his debut.

(He became captain during the war years when the games were played off the record, so his "debut" wasn't really a debut...)

My fave fact I was told as a kid, ayresome had the same turf as wembley ( from the same area)

It was a great pitch mind

Gordon Banks mentioned that in his autobiography, apparently it was Cumberland turf , Doncaster Rovers were the only other team to use it.
He considered it to be the main reason for major injuries in the fifties and sixties that often occured in Cup Finals leaving some teams effectively down to ten men in the days before substitutes were allowed.

Frank Spraggon was Boro's 1st FAC sub when Boro played Chester away in the FAC 1st round, 26th November 1966

Same number as Dixie Dean when he bagged 63 the flowing season
It still means that George even if it is just jointly still holds the record Erimus. How much recognition does he get?
And it took Dixie a full 16 games to score his 18 goals for England.
Wasn't it good when committees picked England teams
