Your fave Britpop act then and now.

If anyone needs a pick list

"While definitions may vary, artists labelled as Britpop were typically guitar-based bands that emerged from the British music scene, were popular in the 1990s, and focused more on melody than other contemporary genres such as grunge"

I guess everyone's definitions will vary, at the time most those bands got called indie music and was played in the indie room at blaises etc
Just looked at this list and I want to change my bands..

Then: Echobelly/Sleeper/Elastica - amazing live and for a fiver in the Arena on a Friday night and Mansun.. and St Etienne and The Verve. Dear me that was one hell of a good time for UK Bands. and Boro live gigs. :D

I always associate Brit Pop with 94 - 97/98, so it coincided with a great time to be a Boro fan.....Two great Manchester scenes in my teens and 20s.....Smiths/New Order/Fall etc.....indie......Roses, Mondays..... Madchester and Oasis - Britpop's Manchester representatives.

Madchester/Britpop tend to be more stylistic/sound than a certain time period. Definitely some crossover though I think. If we're throwing around labels Oasis are strictly speaking "Beatles Revivalism" ;)

Was a big Oasis fan at the time, also Ocean Colour Scene but haven't listened to either in about 20 years (going to see OCS on a freebie in a few weeks time though, should be interesting).

Looking back on that era now, my love of Britpop has diminished significantly, much more into US bands from that era. However, if I was picking a couple of personal standouts I'd have to go Pulp and late-era Blur (you know, when they started aping the American bands of the time) :ROFLMAO:
