Your ideal Centre Mid

Would love us to put a cheeky bid in for Callum O'Hare
Heard his name alot but never really seen much of him. He's injured isn't he, or are Coventry just saying that to discourage Burnley from bidding for him? I'd love us to throw a 15-20m bid in for him and Gyokeres on deadline day.

Ah yeah I'd forgot about that. Just had a quick google and the latest I can find is their manager saying it could be weeks or months, this was 2 weeks ago mind.

I always expected Wilder to try and get Norwood or Fleck from Sheff Utd, obviously having worked with them in the past.

2 very good champ centre mids.

I am always shocked when managers dont return to old clubs for players. Wilder at Sheff utd and Gerrard at Rangers two perfect examples. I really expected Gerrard to try and sign Kent/Goldson/Aribo from Rangers and Wilder to go for that Egan or Norwood. Managers always bring their backroom staff, but rarely go back to sign their old captain, or old star player which makes me wonder if they ever fancied them at all or just was making do

He might’ve gone in for Egan and been quoted £10m. They have no need to sell one of their better defenders. Same goes for Norwood.

I think sometimes as well that there are agreements in place about managers going back and ‘raiding’ former clubs for key players. Robbo went back for Clayton Blackmore, for example, which was fine as he was a back-up player but if he’d tried for a first team player it might’ve been different.

In answer to the OP: we desperately need an orthodox defensive-minded central midfielder and have done for years. Since we came down really. I’m staggered that we’re plodding on with Howson in that role and if we don’t strengthen that on this window then the top two is a real stretch for us this season. You’d argue that it’s a stretch anyway but you can’t have a player in the spine of the team ‘filling in’ for prolonged periods.

I’m sure Wilder will have wanted to address it before now. Rumours of Ampadu on loan sound promising at least. But it’s a key position in the team and we need a proper player to play it. Not a bloke filling in.

The one who always seems to go under the radar is Gustavo Hamer. He has looked a class act every time I have watched him play. Plays in DM role for Cov but has real forward intent.

Burnely bid 9-10 million for him a.month ago and were knocked back, I think he signed a new contract since then.
