We need to stick with these two as a pair. Barlaser has undoubted quality on the ball and combined brilliantly with young Hackney. As for Hackney for me man of match, he just keeps getting better and better looked like a Premier league player playing against championship opposition a different level to everyone else on the pitch.

Me and you have had problems with McNair in the past too but wow he’s been good since he came back in the team. LCB is his best position.
 
Never been as bad as some have said.

Probably suffered a bit from being quite similar to Hackney and it's an unfair comparison as Hackney is clearly a premier league player in waiting.

Always had the attributes to thrive in a Carrick side.
 
Good performance overall although he did give the ball away in a dangerous area during the first half, which nearly cost us a goal.

Think we should stick with him and Hackney for now.
 
I’m pleased for him. He’s obviously a good player, stood out in a poor Rotherham side and he must have been wondering if he’d made a mistake coming here. It’s his place to lose now I think. Which should keep him on his toes. Generally competition for places is pretty good now.
 
There is a good player in there. We definitely need cover for Howson. I think he was okay in the first half, but hardly Zidane.
Second half he was great but, let’s be honest, how much space was available with the extra man?

Chuffed to bits with three points though.
 
Some people just don't want to admit he's a class act.
If he was quicker, a defensive powerhouse, kept the ball all game he be about 30 million 🤣
 
You have to admire how Carrick has worked him into the player he wants— says a lot for MCs (amazing) coaching skills and knowledge of player management.
 
Both CMs were great, carrying the ball and using the space Sunderland were leaving for them, to then create decent attacking chances. Hopefully he continues in the same vein.
