For Mark Riley and Gid Coe fans R6

Once had a p*ss next to Marc Riley at the Cineworld in East Didsbury. He was known as Lard back then though.........

Isn’t Marc Riley in his 60s. Isn’t it time he went over to Radio 2? Appreciate the listenership age on here is of the same age bracket but we have to accept the yoof are taking over. The average listener age to 6 Music is 36.

Yeah but who's to say the younger ones don't listen to Riley and Coe, my son who is in his 20s does and he's gutted about them being shifted.

I have signed, Gid Coe is far and away my favourite radio show. However, it's hard to argue against Tom Ravenscroft and Deb Grant being given a new music slot. This petition might have been better focussing on the 9pm - 10pm slot, which is scheduled to broadcast podcast content, rather than live radio. Hopefully the momentum of this petition could at least ensure that Gid and Marc's shows start at 9pm, instead of 10pm. Four additional hours of live music radio would be the more realistic request.

Don’t know. Did they conduct some research or is it down to one or two individuals opinion within the Corporation?

Met Marc a few times, including when I was in the studio during the Radio 1 Breakfast show, and he (and Mark Radcliffe) is an absolute gent.

Not sure the petition will do much good. There was one when Robert Elms was shunted on BBC London, and it got no traction and I'd be very surprised if it would change something here as well.

Signed, but with some hesitation. Gideon Coe is one of my favourite radio DJs but Mark Riley is very much of his place and time (Manchester circa 1980)

I couldn't disagree more. Marc Riley is continually pushing new music on his show, and I doubt I'd have discovered BC Camplight, The Voluntary Butler Scheme, Cate Le Bon, Pip Blom, amongst others, as early as I did. Not to mention some lost gems that I've also discovered because of him.

I think the only DJ on the whole station who is very much of a time and place (Kentish Town Bull & Gate with a pint of Strongbow in 1992) is Steve Lurpack. The rest are continually pushing new and exciting bands.

Ironic that the petition is on Change when it's change that's triggered this. For what it's worth, I'm a fan of Riley and Coe and have listened to the station from the off. The station is, in my opinion, far more interesting than when it began. I don't like everything on it (Lamaq's show for example) but I don't listen to what I don't like. The petition is frankly weird.

Greatest Hits, need to set up a Greatest Hits xtra and employ Riley, Coe, Keavney, Jarvis, Kershaw etc…..job done

Why should people let the Yoof as you call them take over anything. Fight for your right to party albeit more slowly.
