Post on RTG

Just one of their Threads about us . Mentions how they don't care about us and another 3000 + posts.

Saw this one from a Boro supporter about this place.

With regards fmttm, the reason you can discuss anything is why I left the site. There is more politics than football and my beliefs don't aligne with the Marxist woak beliefs of your average nutter on there, so it's easier to stay away than read such tripe and watch my blood pressure go through the roof. At least here it's mainly about football.

Not got the best impression of us has he ( or is it a fair description) . Anyone remember him?
Can't spell either. Good riddance.

To be fair it is massively woke and left wing

It’s amazing really , the views reflected on this board don’t match up to what I hear from the average Teessider. The internet skews people’s perceptions quite a lot
It’s really not. It’s quite snoze!

Folks views on racism here are quite clumsy and quite I’ll informed. I’d say most folks on here are well intentioned.. but woke? Nah

Left wing is a funny one too.. anytime there is an incident of any kind.. HANG EM! LIFE UN PRISON!! BRING IN THE POLICE! SNIFFER DOGS! SEARCHES! CCTV! BRING BACK FENCES!

and there seemed to be a lot of support for Andy Preston round these parts.. very much not left wing.

Don’t get me wrong it would be fine if it was, it’s fine that it isn’t. Folks have different views, different opinions.. but it’s not left wing.

It might be a bit more sanitised.. the humour might be a little less.. ‘black and blue’ there’s no wannabe chubby browns who do a decent impression but just forget the punchlines.

I think lefty and woke is seen as an insult by some folks.. like new code words for pillocks and fops. It’s not lefty and woke tho.. there’s a vibe.. there’s a bit of a Karen vibe.

More dad jokes than ‘banter’

This forum is Class… reminds me of things I used to do growing up I’ve forgot about.

RTG is along the same lines I think

Politics well I know where I stand but it’s one group who have started to politicise most things in everyday life

Right wing folk don’t like this board because whenever they end up in a debate they get found out for believing absolute guff and are made to look silly and then they flounce.

This is it in a nutshell.
If you can express your convictions with reason and logic and back up your arguments with evidence, then you don't give a sh*t about what the majority opinion is. What people don't like is being shown up as absolute duffers without a leg to stand on.

Indeed, but what they do is leave the board and then vote for Boris and Brexit and what not, and we all suffer. I have found over the years that it is more fruitful to try not to sneer at “the Right”. Just my opinion.

Woak.. lol

So in the ‘total football’ section.. there is a fmttm section and in that section there are ex posters who are posting about politics on a Sunderland message board.. suggesting there’s folks on here who are sad geeks.

Wowza! - I mean I’ve just read it.. so that makes me worse I guess.

Some truth in that, but also there are some intemperate posters, who are unnecessarily aggressive. Most are not, and allow their polemic to succeed for them.
I say this as one who is still trying to align Marxism with the fundamental nature of Homo sapiens.

It is.

But you'd have to have rocks in your head if you think the past 13 years have burnished he reputation of right wing anti-woke politics.

Regarding "woke", during a court case in the US brought against Florida governor and presidential candidate, Ron DeSantis, his lawyers were asked to define the word.
For those that don't know, DeSantis is a leading right wing exponent of culture war politics and he uses woke as an insult.
Anyway, in court when asked what “woke” means more generally, DeSantis’ General Counsel Ryan Newman said “it would be the belief there are systemic injustices in American society and the need to address them.”
Hardly the insult most people think in that case.
It is left wing on here, I won't deny that, but I'd love to know how wanting a fairer deal for everyone, when it is statistically shown that the wealth gap is getting bigger year on year, is a bad thing. You can have law and order at the same time as decency and equality without resorting to jackbooted right wing policies. Here in the UK, you'd have to be pretty stubborn to not accept that Tory policies haven't done anything good for the average person who has to work for a living.

If I was to boil it down as simply as possible, classic Left/Right politics in modern society largely equates to how much you believe in luck.

The Right tend to believe that they or their family have earned every penny and are entitled to as much of it as possible. The Left believe far more in “chance”, and how anyone can be rich or poor depending on, basically, how lucky they are or have been.

I know Tory voters who will simply never ever vote for any other party because they fundamentally don’t believe that anything they have was down to luck, and they know the Tories will always defend that ideology perpetually.

It’s hard to see how anyone, regardless of your political persuasion, could think that the country doesn’t need a change of government now though. The Tories are practically trying to lose the next GE, even they’ve had enough and are totally fatigued.

Woke used as a pejorative is what people with no empathy do. Sociopath is the usual name for people without empathy. Yes sounds like he’s a sociopath or a dumb f.. or both

The founder of this board if broadly left as are many of the long term users. But it's a mixed constituency and there are many long term members who are anything but "left". And things are even more nuanced (as they should be) when it comes down to single issue politics. As for the term "woke" ...

I would say “woke” is simply the new/more modern way of saying “politically correct”. In which case, this board is, and I don’t think folk should take it as an insult especially.
Wikism isnt the same as PC I dont think, more like its ugly cousin.

It's a phrase that's been hijacked and twisted to give it a negative connotation, which is a bit sad given where it derived from and the good it was associated too.
