Reading online, it does.
My colleague who’s a Newcastle season ticket sent me this the other day:
(It’s not to him another Newcastle fan shared it)
Thank you for providing information for your appeal.
We have reviewed the information that you have provided and will detail the investigation we have undertook and the outcome of your appeal.
The club has implemented spot checks this season to ensure fairness to all supporters who purchase tickets through its established loyalty points system and to prevent potential ticket touting.
Demand for away tickets is extremely high and the club continues to receive complaints about match tickets being passed on to supporters who may not meet the criteria to purchase. We understand work commitments, illness etc can occur which would prevent a Supporter from travelling and do allow Supporters to cancel their ticket purchase up to 72 hours before the fixture and give the tickets back to the club to allow us to allocate tickets fairly to the next supporter who qualified under the Loyalty Points system.
We understand from your appeal you tried to contact the club via telephone but were unable to get through. We do apologise for any delays in getting through to us. We do however have other avenues in which you can contact us, such as the box office and supporter services email addresses and the web contact form. Whilst carrying out our investigation we were unable to find any correspondence from yourself regarding the Brighton tickets.
The terms and conditions you make reference to in your appeal apply to away supporters visiting St James’ Park, which is detailed on page 2 of the terms ‘"Ground" means the football stadium at St James’ Park, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 4ST and all other locations owned, occupied or utilised by the Club notified to you at any time.’ Unfortunately, these do not apply to our Supporters visiting other clubs.
On the 31/08/23 we sent you a communication regarding your away tickets for Brighton, within that email it referenced the spot checks that would be undertaken by the club and took you to the web article which detailed how spot checks would work and the consequence of ID not matching the name on the ticket - ‘Should the identification not correspond with the ticket, the person the original ticket purchase is linked to will have their loyalty points deducted in full.’ We can see this email correspondence was opened 5 times.
Regretfully, due to the above findings we will be removing your loyalty points with immediate effect. Please note any tickets that you have purchased for Wolves, Dortmund or Bournemouth will be honoured.
We understand this is not the outcome you were hoping for and apologise for any disappointment caused. You do have the option to conduct an independent appeal via the Independent Football Ombudsmen should you wish to
