The park that was gifted to the people of Middlesbrough !

A stealth tax on the physical and mental wellbeing of Middlesbrough residents.

All those walking groups and Park Runners will now have to pay for the privilege

How utterly shortsighted by the decision makers at the council !!!

Concerns raised over plans to introduce parking charges at Stewart Park

Middlesbrough Council is also proposing to introduce residents' parking permits in the surrounding streets

They don't have to pay, they can walk there or catch a bus.

This goes against every physical and mental health initiative going.
Allowing and encouraging people to exercise in a green environment is beneficial for physical and mental wellbeing. Reducing visits to the GP and helping reduce long term health conditions, improving mental health etc etc etc etc. it reduces pressure on front line services, like I say its shortsighted....all to save £80 K
 
Redcar and Cleveland tried to do the same at Flatts Lane at the start of this year - they were put under public pressure and scrapped the idea.
Do Middlesbrough Borough Council have to pay Askham Bryam to maintain the park? If they do, although I would hate to see it happen, I can see why the council may need to charge for parking.
That said, people will just park on the Grove etc if they introduce parking charges at the park.

They are also going to introduce permit parking in the surrounding rounds The Grove, Marton Manor etc at a cost of £10 to each resident....so they are also going to tax people to live NEAR THE PARK 😦
