Well they were, but let's be honest, they were up against a mid-table Division 3 club's jouneymen forwardsThought they were an excellent pairing last night.
We've been poor down that left side for the last few games no matter what the combination is between VDB/Clarke/Engel/Bangura. They get little to no protection from in front of them with Barlaser and Greenwood/Rogers.Solid, but I'm not sold on Clarke/Engel pairing. Played themselves into trouble a few times first half. Admittedly, they will not have played much together so hopefully it will come, but having centre back/full back pairings who can play and move the opposition is pretty important to how we play.
If I were West Brom I'd definitely be targeting that channel on Sat.
That's a very good. With Hackney out (and one or two others) our game has been more stretched, and certainly not as condensed as I imagine Carrick would like. We've been poor down that left side for the last few games no matter what the combination is between VDB/Clarke/Engel/Bangura. They get little to no protection from in front of them with Barlaser and Greenwood/Rogers.
Mcnair is anything but quick. The best CB partnership for the way we play is VDB and McNair
Both very good on the ball, quick so can handle the counter well with fullbacks higher up the pitch
I really like Fry but I don’t think he’s the way forward for a progressive possession based team
He may not look it but believe me he is.Mcnair is anything but quick.
