Dael Fry and Matt Clarke

Solid, but I'm not sold on Clarke/Engel pairing. Played themselves into trouble a few times first half. Admittedly, they will not have played much together so hopefully it will come, but having centre back/full back pairings who can play and move the opposition is pretty important to how we play.

If I were West Brom I'd definitely be targeting that channel on Sat.

Comment about it on Saturday when we've played West Brom. See if the opinion still the same, hopefully it is.

We've been poor down that left side for the last few games no matter what the combination is between VDB/Clarke/Engel/Bangura. They get little to no protection from in front of them with Barlaser and Greenwood/Rogers.

That's a very good. With Hackney out (and one or two others) our game has been more stretched, and certainly not as condensed as I imagine Carrick would like.

Catch 22 as if we bring the LW back there's no one to "spring" when we turn over possession. A longer game also plays to ELL's strengths.

For the first 10 last night we started with a "magic box" (CB/CM) and the FBs pushed high up. To be fair to PV, they sussed that quickly and started playing the ball wide into the areas vacated by the FBs, forcing them back to sit in.

I think the game suited Fry and Clarke, nearly everything was in front of them and neither is at their best when they're turned around.

When everyone is fit centre half is probably our strongest position, thankfully, given the injuries.

Its early days for VDB but he looks a huge talent and along with Lenihen I'd say we're the strongest pairing

Personally I wouldn’t be playing Clarke unless we absolutely had to.
Unfortunately, due to fixture pile up and our injuries it seems we do have to play him, but possibly, with no Paddy, it seems another position Boro have to cover in the Jan Sales.

Individually all our CBs are good enough for this level. Where they struggle is in organisation. They always seem to allow players either side of them to go unmarked. need to communicate with each other better

I still think although i am probably not in the majority viewpoint fry is the best centreback at the club and Rvb are the best pairing
