I didn't say I'd be pleased. I just wouldn't be upset haha.

We'll qualify regardless and it's apparent that it will probably be better not to finish top of our group.

The Welsh anthem is also a belter to be fair.

The flag is a combination of the flags of some of the UK, nothing wrong with it.

It's the scoundrels using at as an emblem whilst running the country into the ground that I have a problem with. Waving it whilst looking after a minority of what it stands for.

Listen to the words of the national anthem, appalling. Who wants an odd ball member of a German family to rule over then. Give me democracy over that mumbo jumbo nonsense any time.

Yet you call me a flag waving buffoon for supporting the waving of our flag at the Euros, just like i support the Welsh and Scots right to do the same, oh and the Dutch, Germans, French et al…. you never criticise any other country than England. As for the National Anthem, I like it but would equally support Jerusalem. You are who you are because of your forefathers, history should never be cancelled, just learned from.

I call you a flag waving buffoon because you accept any old shyte if it's British like a badge of honour.

I'm English and live here, why shouldn't I be able to criticise its failings and the stupidity that so many flag wavers turn a blind eye to.

As for history, it's there to be challenged if the nation is to progress.

I have never criticised your freedom of speech, just your language and political bias in doing so. I say that as a Labour voter too. I do feel the various flag’s are a badge of honour, I am proud of the UK too, just like the Scots and Welsh and Northern Irish do about their flags too. The Union Jack should unite us all, sadly some weaponise it for political gain. Viva Billingham, whats their flag btw?

Going back to the OP, I agree flower of scotland is one of THE best national anthems with the State anthem of Russia. The only one better in my opinion is La Marsailleise which is easily the best.

Have been to Murrayfield and standing there, in an England shirt, as they sing the second verse a cappella is both amazing and terrifying!
 
Imagine if England fans dressed up in military uniforms and sang about winning ancient battles. Indeed we've long ago had to censor the national anthem to avoid upsetting Scots.

To be fair that verse hasn't been used since 1745....

FWIW I don't think our national anthem is comical, it's respectful and patriotic and reflects our traditional religious beliefs. It's just a dreadful slow dirge. We need something more bombastic, more exciting. I have no problem with God Save the queen as a concept. though I don't believe in one of these people and am becoming less inclined to the other. The only problem with it is musically. It's boring.
