Uk and Ireland awarded Euro 2028

Do all of the host nations qualify as of right?

Not confirmed, but I think 5 teams qualifying automatically is probably a bit much.

But it'll be the biggest ever Euros at 32 teams and there are only 55 teams in UEFA to begin with.

If the other lot can't qualify ahead of the likes of Moldova, Liechtenstein and San Marino, there's something wrong.

I see Russia has submitted a bid to host the Euro 2028.

Taken from the BBC: The UK and Republic of Ireland football associations have submitted a joint expression of interest in staging the European Championships in 2028.

The five associations has previously considered seeking to stage the World Cup in 2030 and conducted a £2.8m feasibility study into a potential bid.
But in February they decided to focus their efforts on Euro 2028.

Russia has declared an interest in staging the tournament despite being banned from international football.

Russian clubs and national teams are currently suspended by Fifa and Uefa - world and European football's governing bodies, respectively - because of the country's invasion of Ukraine, pending the outcome of an appeal by the Football Union of Russia to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Despite the ban, the union's executive committee has backed a bid for the European Championships in 2028 and 2032.

Uefa has not commented on any of the countries interested in staging the 2028 tournament and its deadline for declarations of interest is 17:00 GMT on Wednesday.

32 teams, might as well just turn it into a European FA Cup

I struggle to see where Northern Ireland fit in here, unless plans are in place to redevelop Windsor park into a 40,000 + capacity stadium?

If it is was held in UK & Ireland, what grounds would be used? I am sure there are plenty which would shot their names in the hat.

Scotland -
1. Hampden Park
2. Ibrox
3. Celtic Park
4. ??

Wales -
1. Principality
2. ??

Northern Ireland
1. Windsor Park
2. ??

Ireland -
1. Aviva
2. Croke Park - Would they allow football here?
3. ??

England - Too many to mention but have named the obvious three.
1. Wembley
2. Old Trafford
3. Spurs

I was looking at the capacities of grounds earlier after reading this, NI has a big GAA ground but it looks like a bit of a shed.

The Riverside is the 15th biggest club ground in England and Wales

Old Trafford shouldn’t be allowed to host a game given I couldn’t get a beer for over 4 hours at the F.A cup tie.
