Tories close gap on Labour to 1 point

So accept far right and/or far left applicants?

Also looking at the graph Starmer has maintained a 20 point approval advantage over Johnson in the period shown and overtaken Sunak. Statistics eh.
Don't ever trust statistics, unless you've manipulated them yourself. Churchill I think it was.

He's not my man. I just get shocked at these threads I guess. So many people on this board post anti Tory sentiment and then attack labour. It's a tough circle to square
Indeed. I believe your 'man' at the last general election was Boris Johnson

ST if you really want to know what i think then here goes: I think Labour infighting is currently very overstated. There's not really any of it going on.

Compre to the situation a few years ago. Groups of MPs were breaking off to start a new party, thats not happening now. The deputy leader was constantly attacking the leader, thats not happening now. The likes of Ian Austin and Kezia Dugdale were telling voters to vote tory, I don't know of any left-wing labour representatives doing that now.

You don't need to worry so much. Your man Starmer's got the party sewn up.
Oh my god, my life is upside down, there is not one word of that I disagree with.

You also believe wrong. But I think you knew that. Let's steer away from puerile personal attacks and back to the thread?

What's your take on labour infighting?

How do you extrapolate that from what I said? Many of those being suspended or expelled from the Labour party are merely supporters of justice for Palestinians and oppose the bulldozing of Palestinian homes and farms for the building of illegal settlements. This is in no way extreme, in fact I kind of thought that these would be your sentiments too but i guess I was wrong.

However, there is a purge of left wing Jews from Labour and this is driven by organisations like JLM and the Board of Deputies and carried out by Starmer. Jewish members are receiving letters notifying them of their suspension and informing them that they are being investigated for anti-Semitism. How painful must that be? One old lady is in her 80's and joined the party before Starmer was born.

The 82 yo lady's problem is this tweet.

''the existence of the state of Israel is a racist endeavour and I am an antiracist Jew”.

My oldest friend is affronted by the actions of the government of Israel, which she describes as rapidly morphing into an apartheid state. She’s the daughter of a mother who lost most all of her family to the camps, Auschwitz in the particular. An extended family she never got to meet. They were, and are a family of socialist intellectuals dating back to 1920’s Austria and beyond. She has returned her Labour membership card.

I am not Jewish, but I accept she has her opinion in that I also think the Jews who left the Labour party under Corbyn have theirs.

You said
you cannot be a broad, welcoming party if you bow to a pressure group who wish you to expel people with differing views.
My point is that you have draw a line somewhere. Where you draw that line is always going to be subjective. Take for example the Tories embracing the UKIP/BP lite members. You might argue that in doing so, in the pursuit of power, that they allowed extremes of opinion to guide the direction of the majority. Because you need to get those more extreme views as part of your "collective" you compromise on the vision of the party/organisation as a whole. The tail wags the dog. So whilst you have factions within a party with views at variance to the leadership that can only be acceptable up to a degree that must be decided by the party. I'm not saying that Starmer was right to expel these people but reading some of the stuff they have subsequently put out I find it hard to blame him.

I am not Jewish, but I accept she has her opinion in that I also think the Jews who left the Labour party under Corbyn have theirs.

Her actions were more to do with the fact that the Labour leadership’s condemnation of the Israel government actions was so weak. Nothing to do with Corbyn.

Since posting one poll without any comparison is really annoying, here's Jeremy Corbyn's before the last election...
Corbyn is no longer leader and won't be taking the party into the next GE so no comparison is necessary except to steer the discussion down a cul de sac.

And the Labour leadership during Corbyn's reign was seen as anti Semitic to the majority of Jews.

I fully accept the argument you put forward.

I have said this before I was in the party for decades, I had no evidence of anti Semitic behaviour, that could of been that the area we live in has an almost zero Jewish population.

As for labours political position, I have had this argument with Roofie. If I was s Jew. I would take as much notice on how to behave from the West as I would eat a sandwich from used toilet roll.

We murdered 6m, we ra ped them, we tortured them, we removed their teeth we pi ssed on them, we did not help, we continue to hide their assets. We continue to apologise for Slavery but never apologise for our disgusting behaviour.

In even more resent past, Jews have been ethnically cleansed from; Saudi, Iran. Iraq, Syria. Jordan, Egypt ... Where are you on that?!

Comparisons provide context, you stated "only" therefore provided a bias to the result of the poll you quoted.

Starmer at the moment is seen as more of a potential PM than Jeremy Corbyn which given some of the comments in this thread re Labour, is a very important footnote.

You’re turning into the message board Neil Kinnock…using 15 words when 3 would do. You are overthinking what I wrote. I didn’t put forward an ‘argument’ just reiterating what she said.
