I think he was hoping to ride himself back into form. It just shows the difficulty in riding a decent Giro and Tour.

Brilliant tactics you mean. I thought UAE were putting too much into the first week. Pog is possibly losing the Tour here.

A combination of the tactics, his youthful overenthusiasm wanting to win everything in the first week and the heat which he apparently hates. He had his jersey open even before they hit the hills. It is bloödy hot here mind.

That was a brilliant stage. The race has lit up well and truly. Rather that just riding in formation to the bottom of the last climb and then duking it out, Jumbo sending riders up the road and then constantly attacking was brialliant to see.
Is a 2 minute lead enough? Another epic day tomorrow I think.
