OFFICIAL Tour de France Thread 2022

Did you see his acting to camera at the bottom of the last climb? Cockiness is never a good look - particularly when it goes twits up

They discussed that on the post-race Velo Club (Offredo, Jalabert and the rather lovely Marion Rousse). They agreed that it was all bluff, as Jalabert said, look weak when you're feeling strong and look strong when you're struggling.

Just listening to Adam Blythe talking about Alpe D’Huez and those wonderful switchbacks.
I quote - ’The riders will have to apply the breaks on those switchbacks before accelerating out’

Adam - that wasn’t my personal experience 🚲

Oh, and read a couple of bits ref Pog and marginal gains
He wasn’t on rim breaks yesterday and his bike is more that 400g over the allowed UCI max.
Lots of extra weight for climbing

Amazing performance by the young lad-- 22 years and youngest ever to win on the Alpe D’Huez. I must admit it's amazing how these athletes keep their composure when they are surrounded by manic fans on such gradients, especially Pidcock as this was his first attempt. I don't know what the room is for error but it can't be that much. The lad was in tears at the end-- incredible performance I'm sure he'll be winning it all at sometime. Mind you he's only 7mins 39 secs behind the yellow jersey-- another couple of top finishes and who knows maybe a podium finish in Paris?

It is a bit of a habit though isn't it? It was totally his fault today too, a lack of attention. Hope he recovers enough to get over the Pyrenees.
Another top ride from Fred Wright. That's a 2nd and 3rd in his first Tour? I need to check if he rode last year.

Fred is having a cracker.
Had to check his age first time I heard of him, it’s his name - you can imagine someone with that name riding in the 60’s and 70’s

It's a mouthful isn't it - Alfred Brockwell Wright. I was relying on one of the french commentators saying he had a 2nd and 3rd place - for the latter I think they mixed up being last man standing in the break on stage 8 when he was caught just 3k from the finish. He did ride the Tour last year with a twelfth place on one stage.

Great for Matthews today
The other 2 are gladiotoral

Lovely day fro me on Sunday.
Revel to St Ferreol (normally a cat 4)
Then a lovely cat 3 to Cammazes before hitting the up and down of Sassac with the castle on the right.

Probably done that route over 100 times.
Great memories.
