OFFICIAL Tour de France Thread 2022

Hell of a stage. Can Vingegaard just keep cool? It's like a boxing match - he's ahead on points - just needs to avoid a knockout.

It certainly is. What a Tour this has been. I think he will. Hes looking cool and I would be surprised if Pog can get any kind of gap on him. Have to praise UAE though for breaking the rest of the Jumbo train. Kuss is a funny rider. One day he looks brilliant the next day an ordinary instead of super Dom.

Vingegard stood up and didn't let the two UAE boys dominate him. That was a big effort from Pog today and they couldn't get the gap they need.

Thomas’s tweet

’fair play to them (meaning UAE) .. and whatever they have had for breakfast’

The peloton usually knows

Just read, btw, all three of them beat Pantini's record on that last climb
He was rather good at marginal gains.....

If “they know” and they are not “doing it” why aren’t they blowing the charade? I mean if they think they are cheating call it out FFS. Of course he may well have meant they had a particular good choice of porridge after all.

Great question
I don’t think teams ever ‘call it out’ properly.
Jiffygate?

Anyway, blueberries and honey on their porridge makes a huge difference too

Fitting that a Dane will win this years Tour given where it all started. They can finally forget Bjarne Rijs.

Incredible that Vim will win both yellow and polka dot jerseys too. And his team mate the green (and almost the polka dot). Jumbo’s Tour alright.

Dont know how they do it but these top cyclists are showing no fatigue whatsoever and are smashing times out of the park. Vimnegaard is 13 seconds faster than anybody else at the moment.

No surprise with that result just the way it was done. Love to see Vinngegaards power stats. For a slight lighter rider he destroyed big power men in that ITT.

I just went back through the history books to see how long it is since more than 25 minutes separated the top 10. Appears it was 1997, the year Ullrich won it, with the 10th placed rider more than 32 minutes back!
