Michael carrick into 6/1 second fav

not sure about this tbh what experience has Carrick got coaching or manging what is he doing atm, the state we are in think we need a bit of experience was warming to Corberan or Robins, seems quite a risky move going for Carrick !

Given we've had far more success with inexperienced managers verses experienced ones, it would suggest it's the opposite!

Coached for 4 seasons at Man United, immediately after retiring as a very successful player.

Corberan's previous experience before being appointed Huddersfield manager was a non-existent football career, 2 brief failed stints as manager in the Cypriot league, a few years as a fitness coach and 2 years as an assistant in the Championship.

Carrick is definitely a risk, but it's one I'd like us to take.
If it goes wrong, I'll hold my hands up and say I supported the decision to appoint him.

Me too.

Any appointment is a risk, but if Carrick gets his backroom team right then I think he'll do well.

Head Coach: Carrick
First Team Coaches: Meulensteen, Phelan, Percovich.
GK Coach: Fettis

If this is true I hope the deal breaker is that he does bring Phelan and Meulensteen with him.

You'd hope lessons have been learnt after Woodgate appointing his buddy and then just relying on having Pulis and Mogga on speed dial for the "experience".

I wouldn't worry about holding your hands up. Someone will probably be bookmarking it, for future use 😂

Carrick with those ex-man united coaches mentioned I do think is the most exciting of the options that seem available. If he can bring them with him I think it'd be a good indicator of the respect he has in the game.

Not for me this one. I really think it smacks of "ripping it up and starting again" when minor tweaks are needed.

Admittedly we don't know what the future will bring but this appointment doesn't fill me with hope.

Happy for this page to be bookmarked when we're promoted with five games to spare :)

How do you propose we make minor tweaks when we have Leo & Fettis as the only backroom staff ?

Minor tweak? We still need to replace our manager!

Carrick was born to Vince and Lynn Carrick in Wallsend, Tyne and Wear and first became involved in football at age four.[10] A boyhood fan of Newcastle United,[11] he played five-a-side football with Wallsend Boys Club on Saturday nights, courtesy of his father's volunteer work at the club. Aged nine, he had a trials with Middlesbrough, Stoke City, Arsenal, Crystal Palace and Chelsea.

Typical phucking 🐍, he's already knocked us back once.........

...............just as bad as Wilder and Burnley.

👀

I would guess most baggies would rather have Wilder? Unless this season has completely ruined his reputation.

Maybe we knocked him back?

I meant minor tweaks on the pitch. I still stand by the fact that we haven't been awful this season (maybe second half on Saturday aside). I would have been happier with a "continuity candidate" who could have taken the style and system and improved it. It's what we have been recruiting for after all.

I've got a feeling Carrick will want to make his mark on the side (first managerial appointment for a relatively big name), thus potentially undoing the work done to date.
