Yep, then we are under pressure defending a draw or narrow lead and we don't have the physical or mental strength to stand up to that pressure.
Especially early in the season, we had lots of great chances in games to put ourselves out of reach.
I suppose nearly all goals come from mistakes, but we've been the architects of our own downfall in numerous games.
If we can tighten up and play with with more aggression and belief but still keep creating, I see no reason why we wouldn't quickly climb the table.
We need the new manager to organise the defence, play a settled team, work on maximising shots on target from the chances we create from Jones and Giles' quality and get them enjoying it again.
Some creative set plays wouldn't hurt either.
I don't think Wilder was the problem, I think it's the squad, so I don't see how a new manager could change much, as in get us playing much better than how we were playing in the earlier games. I think Wilder would have done that, with a fully fit squad had he been given the time, but maybe somethings gone on which we don't know about.
In the earlier games, we were missing more and being severely punished in all sorts of ways, but this wasn't the case as much in the latter Wilder games. First, it was terrible finishing, bad luck, lousy ref decisions and the opposition scoring unexpected goals, but then it became bad form/ confidence as a feedback loop, and a few injuries we could have done without.
We were not convincing in Leo's first game either against Brum, and we were worse than in some other games in which we've been beaten. His second game against Milwall was one of the worst performances over 90 minutes all season, compared to how the opposition played, and they're **** as well. This isn't a dig at Leo mind, there's not much he can do.
We're limited on formations we can play, as we're so weak in the middle that we have to play three, otherwise we'll get dominated in there, but by having three in the middle it just makes us weaker elsewhere. Every opposition team will know this.
If we get back to how we were playing earlier in the season, then with Chuba, Lenihan and Steffen back I think we'll get some better results, Just a shame we didn't have Muniz then. We need some luck and to cut out the silly errors, for a few games in a row, to build up some confidence, but that's also largely reliant on availability and the players, won't be much to do with the manager, not until January anyway, unless he's getting his boots on.
