Kieron Scott

It's a bit naive in some respects though, how many managers are really in it for the long term? Do we think Carrick won't be off if he is a success and a big job comes along? Are we loyal to our managers during bad patches?
The game is becoming more and more short term, reflecting current society. Stability is a wish but you need all sides to be interested in it long term.

So the fans have been bullsh1tted since March then. Wilder should have been out of the door at the end of last season if they couldn't work together this summer. A mess of their own making.

That's a big jump in interpretation. The implication as I see it is that CW saw us as a stepping stone to the PL. That doesn't suggest that they had difficulty working together on a personal level.

I think it was a lot deeper than that

Look at how the club has reacted since it wasn’t an amicable split at all.

Why? McLaren went for three other jobs while managing boro. We ended up with a cup, 2 seasons in Europe and a uefa cup final. Sometimes you have to be pragmatic in football. If we employ a manager with a reputation for fancy **** football other clubs are going to try and poach them. Managers aren't going to show loyalty to a club if the club is sacking them the second results turn.
Not that wilder wasn't being an ****.

look at Chelsea they change manager every season or so but still have success. The key is to develop a footballing infrastructure and philosophy which can handle managerial change without ripping up and starting again with every change. its nothing new, it goes all the way back to Shankly's boot room of changing manager but keeping continuity

short termism is correct if the appointment is wrong, long termism and continuity is only worthwhile if progression is identifiable. Scott just confirmed what most of us thought which is wilder was a ****.

I thought this wasn't there a dig in his first answer in terms of how the club 'operate' in terms of recruitment?
Yeah he's clearly annoyed by a lot of the stuff that's been said.

He said that they would never sign a player without the go ahead from all members of the 1st team staff, I guess that's to bat away rumours of them signing the likes of Hoppe and Forss when Wilder didn't want them.

He wasn't even fully asked either he just jumped on a question that had 'recruitment' in it🤣.

Fair play if he's here to do a job and feels he's prohibited in some way then he has a right to be frustrated.

Scott was here a tad before Wilder, make no mistake Wilder knew exactly what he signed up for.

Think the 3 at the top of the table at the club are deluded if they think we aren't a stepping stone for 'managers', 'head coaches' and players. We are currently and historically have been a top third second tier team, anyone with ambition will want to go as high in the game as they can. If that coincides with bringing some success to our club and taking us a step further then it should be embraced.

I get that, but I think the club expect a little bit of loyalty and not for their manager to be actively pursuing other jobs 4 months after joining us. Allegedly.

I wouldn't want a manager that doesn't think they can do better than us. Ambition is a good thing. As long as they are open and honest about it up front then that's fine. We'll happily bin them off if they are no good so no issue if they want to go to bigger and better things if they are doing well. It's Scott's job to ensure that long term the club can operate the same way under different managers.

Same for players. We should never sign a player that sees us as the peak of their career unless we are back among the top half of the PL.
