Red faction statement.. ticket prices

To be honest, I think now probably would be a good time for Gibson to give an interview and explain the reasoning behind the price rise, particularly as we've had consecutive yearly rises in ST prices now.

I've defended Gibson when some have claimed he's hiding from the fans, arguing my point that he is notorious for not giving interviews and communicating with fans, and that's been the same through the good times and the bad.

I feel however that the level of discontent in regards to the ticket pricing is at its peak now, and it's a real concern that so many have stated that they're not going to renew.

Interestingly, I've just come across this article from 2014, which gives an explanation as to why the club increased ST prices by 6%. I think the club coming out and giving us an explanation now would be appreciated by many, even if many would disagree with the merit of that explanation.

That article's from this year, 2024, not 2014.

Were RF part of the MSF.....or was their seat at the top table made available due to their walk out?

If they were never part of any of the fan meetings, are they now backing off as they are now in there?

🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

Disappointing. I'd already made the decision not to renew long before all this kicked off. Nothing to do with the money. It just doesn't make sense for me as things stand. I've got too many family responsibilities and I've had all of this trouble with with my back this year so I've missed loads of games this season. No point in paying for games that I can't go to.
Different reasons but I got to this point at the end of the Pulis season. I thought I’d just get to the games as and when I could but then found the walk up prices too expensive for me and the missus.
I love the Boro, had season tickets since 1970’s but when it comes to life choices, they’re not my top priority.

Sing a song of sixpence…
This rhyme reminds me a bit of Steve Gibson, especially the part where it says “the King is in his counting house, counting out his money”. All he needs now is a black beard, so he can treat his blackbirds (us fans), with arrogance as he sits on his throne and looks after his pie (the club’s coffers).

Do people not realise that perhaps one of the biggest issues here is that last year the club told various supporters’ groups they would be involved with the decisions around ticket prices but when it actually came down to it they weren’t? All the groups were completely blindsided.

I don’t see any real and proper acknowledgment of this from those trying to play down the sense of anger or disgruntlement.

And are we any closer to those minutes from last week’s meeting being made available for us all to read?

There's the latest brief minutes from the 5th of February, that's only just been put up.

The person that was the minute-taker for MSF was hounded out of their job the very next day. He was abused online and to his face.
Thus we are left without minutes and there is unlikely now to be a record published from the Supporters Forum for that reason.
We need to all be mindful of that fact.

I’m very mindful of that and have already condemned the abuse and criticism he received. It’s not on. But I’m allowed to ask you the question, surely. There’s a sense that people are being discouraged from asking questions and asking for information tbh. It’s not good.

Nah. We all need to just shut up now and move on. Just accept being shafted.
It's not going to change next year either. We either accept it or talk with our wallet which is what I'll be doing. Won't attend another match this season. Won't be buying a season ticket.

May not attend another game next season. Haven't decided yet. But if they don't invest in the summer, there's not a chance I'm paying our current walk up prices to watch the garbage we've watched recently

Sounds like your trying to hush down any criticism of the club on this forum in regard to unreasonably high ticket prices.

I'm expressing my own personal opinion, I made that clear. I'm not under any pressure at all, from Rob or the club (who I have zero contact with) to suppress anything.

We did close down one of the threads last week because it was largely a one sided view which excluded the input of some people at the meeting who were not in a position to respond .... one of whom subsequently resigned his post, as you know.

What I won't tolerate though is repeated assumptions on here about my personal motives and conspiracy theories arising from those.

Does the fact it's a one sided view not tell you/the supporters representatives/the club representatives something?

Why are threads being shut down that don't break board rules?

Was looking forward to the detailed minutes of the "red faction attended meeting"
Hoped they where going to be as in depth as the detailed minutes of the Feb 5th meeting.

I think it tells us that secrecy is doing nobody any favours

Would be pointless. He would explain why prices have gone up this year. Inflation is up so costs have gone up and that is reasonable. However, he would completely ignore the fact that we already had the highest prices and they are unjustifiable. He would talk about the reduction in kids prices but he wouldn't talk about he's reduced them to still being the highest in the championship.

He would talk about costs going up outside his control and would do absolutely nothing to address why he has spectacularly failed to run his business correctly so all costs have to be passed on through ticket sales. He wouldn't acknowledge that the decisions he's made like only selling merchandise through a single retail unit, only selling really awful quality merchandise at premium prices, discouraging online sales by charging to make a profit on delivery fees, not being able to serve drinks quick enough in the concourse and all of the other ways he has failed because his experience is running a haulage company and not a retail one and he's too cheap to hire people that know what they are doing.

He's just a typical rich bloke. He's asking fans to pay for his mistakes.
