Why SO negative?

Honestly I am getting sick of some of our fans being so negative. Boro post on social media and people respond with “Hope we get relegated so Gibson and Carrick go”. “Rather do anything than go to tonight’s game” blah blah.

YES January window was hugely disappointing. YES the club misjudged the ST situation. YES the club misjudged the striker situation. BUT some of the football under Carrick has been the most enjoyable since I got my ST in 95. (YES he has at times being tactically naive). BUT the club can’t have predicated how poor the loan signings would be. Can’t have predicted the injuries.

We are incredibly lucky to have Gibson. We don’t have a define right to be in the PL. We are a small club who will make mistakes but also sometimes get it right.

I’ve been in Hospital with pneumonia so can’t make tonight’s game (and QPR 😔) and I’m honestly gutted about it. Just hope the fans get behind the team and don’t instantly be negative.

Enjoy the ride! Stay positive.

I think the fans are negative for a number of reasons and it's understandable.

1. The hike in season ticket prices at a time when the club have made 3 large sales.

2. The spirit, grit and determination once we go a goal down has been lacking for some time.

3. Some of Carricks changes in-game are frustrating and many fans are bemused with his choice of starting 11.

Yes the club have had a lot of injuries and most can understand letting crooks go, it was a huge opportunity for him. However that sale along with rogers and a lack of spending in January is frustrating given no. 1 above.

I don't neccesarilly agree with every fans take on the above but when taken together, I can understand why some fans feel cheated.

Yes definitely agree with those points and why fans are frustrated. Just some take it a step too far on social media. I firmly believe the current management system is the correct one and we will get it right. UTB.

I hope you feel better soon and are back in your seat again at the Riveraide.

Suggest much of it is frustration.
Many of us had high hopes after last season, but we didn't replace the goals or quality, preferring to bring in good young prospects.
Coupled with injuries to experienced players, we have been left doing patch-and-mend all season.
We`ll be alright.
Its the Boro you know (y)

As Laughing says, its a combination of things all coming together at once that's causing the anger. Personally I'm just disappointed that we're not going to be in the mix this year, but even that's understandable when you realise how hard it is to replace 40-odd goals in this day and age, along with the worst list of injuries I've known in following the Boro since the late 70's.

If we sell Hackney and RVB in the summer then the anger will be justified imo because we'll know the focus for this club is to be just a feeder for the premier league, and our lack of ambition will be laid bare for all to see.

Carrick needs another transfer window. He needs to be backed by Gibson by being allowed to keep our better players and he needs to bring in a little more experience, both on the pitch and off it.

Don't forget...

4. Some people are just moaning twåts. They'd be like this any season, it's just there's less other noise to drown them out.

People say things like “Hope we get relegated so Gibson and Carrick go” mainly to get likes and bites etc.

The club is in a miserable position at the moment though, so negativity is only to be expected. We have no divine right to do anything, but its unrealistic to expect fans not to point out the lack of PL football we've had over the last 15 years. Hugely out of step with historical norms.

When you're out of the play-off picture by February, having finished 4th the season before, surely the negativity is understandable when sandwiched between all the awful home results is yet another sizeable price increase? Potentially to watch League 1 football for the first time in nearly 40 years.

The January transfer window has set us up well for a big push this summer. People are only moaning about it because of our drop in form which is largely down to poor management and some bad luck with injuries. Realistically we were never going to make a concerted push for promotion this season anyway.

We got to the Cup SEMI FINAL only a few weeks ago FFS

What's there to be positive about with that?
The first leg was nearly 2 months ago, and I doubt anyone is thinking fondly about the 6-1 capitulation of 6 weeks ago.

It was one of the easiest cup runs we'll ever manage to get, with Bolton the only side who weren't struggling, and we were then humiliated when we played a mid-table Premier League team.

We beat Huddersfield - currently 21st in the Championship.

Bolton - 2nd, doing well but in League One.

Bradford - 15th in League Two.

Port Vale - 22nd in League One.

If we're struggling in the league, and we really are right now, reminiscing about beating cannon fodder in an incredibly kind cup run isn't going to cheer many people up.

Fluking a 1-0 win against Chelsea was the only impressive result in that run, and all the positivity from that was thrown away with a suicidal strategy and terrible performance in the second leg.

We didn't fluke that win against Chelsea we were excellent 👍

They missed chance after chance.

Cole Palmer literally missed an open net from a yard out after Glover spilled the ball.

9 times out of 10, they'd have won that game comfortably.

We didn't play badly, but we rode our luck massively and I expect Chelsea would have pushed harder if it was a single legged tie.

We then played appallingly in the second leg to negate any credit from the first leg.

Our performance against Aston Villa was better and we lost that one.
