I think alot of people forget that Matt Clarke has come back from a very serious injury and it was always going to take him time to get upto speed, wasn't he also voted fans player of the year two seasons running for Brighton. If he gets a solid pre-season under his belt, him and RVDB could be the partnership at centre back next season.

Not Brighton, but player of the season 2 seasons running for the 2 clubs he was out on loan at - Derby then West Brom

According to wiki when he was named West Brom’s Player of the Season for 2021–22, it was “his fourth successive such award across three clubs”… So he must have got player of the season at Pompey as well

All hail big Matt Clarke!

Him and VDB would be a great pairing next season.
I'm kinda confused over what I want as a CB pairing. I know I want Rav as one. Could it be Lenihan, if he returns to form and fitness, he's a quiet leader, experienced, great on the ball which suits playing out from the back.

Is it Clarke, whose probably a better defender than Lenihan, and decent on the ball, but maybe less progressive. Or do we cash in on one of those and go big on a quality partner for Rav?

either way, it could be end of the road for Fry, and we don't need to offer McNair a shed load to stay

He did, but it wasn't his fourth successive award, he was on loan at Derby for two seasons and Graeme Shinnie won it the second time.

He then went to West Brom.
