Luke Thomas

How was he today?
Just reminded a few that this lad has played in the England U21s European Championship, won the FA Cup and Community Shield, played against the biggest Teams in the Premiership and scored on his debut at Old Trafford - the first time the Foxes had won there in 23 years. I think he is the perfect material for Carrick to develop his game, give him confidence and turn him into a key player in our next season. (y)

BTW: #agent fox tells me there is a certain amount of panic in the camp and at Seagrave about the financial issues if City go up and about the mass exodus of players if they don't. Rock and a hard place?

He looked better today, not as good as Engel, not even close, but he's still a kid, and plays like one at times. Time is on his side
Agreed. His achievements in his short career so far, will shine through, especially his experience in Europe, winning the FA Cup, U21`s Championship in Europe and the Community Shield, not forgetting playing in the Premier League (y)

Seagrave about the financial issues
If Leicester bottle promotion, there will be FFP issues, a fire sale, EFL investigation and who knows what other ramifications for the club.
If we do get promoted though, we would be better financially but will obviously still have to deal with the ongoing investigation by the Premier League and a possible punishment.

I totally agree, as I said in the start of the OP. Many Leicester fans put down our academy boys and constantly throw them under the bus. Which is wrong. Thomas always needed time and the right coaching, which he never received.

Brendan Rodgers stunted his development and Rodgers is a terrible coach in the sense of what it means to be a coach, whereas I think Carrick actually knows something about coaching and development.

#agentfox told me the crowd were a little "brittle" at times, but seemed happier at the end. Nip and tuck between you guys, Ipswich and Leeds. (y)

Better, although it's a fairly low bar.

It's a little odd that he keeps getting picked, unless it's a condition of the loan, or we are seriously considering a permanent move (we signed two senior LB's) last summer.

I'm probably on the minority because I think there's a player on there, but he's wildly inconsistent and can occasionally look out of his depth.

I think after Engels sloppy performance at Southampton, Carrick has then decided to give Thomas a run out. And although he didn't have the greatest game vs Sheff Wed, he was still part of a winning team so he's kept his place.

Possibly, but it seems to have been picked regularly since coming in, other than a run of being on the bench a few games after really struggling.

I'm really not convinced by Engel, he's better coming forward because I think he's really defensively short at times. You mentioned the Southampton game - his block for the goal was halfhearted at best.

I like Engel, but he needs more composure with the ball. I wonder how he would get on in a Jones role, with Thomas behind him.

If Engel is going to misplace a pass occasionally, I’d rather he wasn’t the last man when he did it.

I just don't think Carrick rates Engel, like many of the fans. He's played so many matches out of lack of options. I'm sure we'll sign a LB in the summer. That may or may not end up being Thomas depending on how he goes for the remainder of the season.

He's what is sometimes known in footballing parlance as an enigma I think ! He can do something brilliant, followed immediately by something so bad it looks as though he did it deliberately.

I think you're 100% correct.

You'd have to be mad to think putting Engel in attacking midfield, supposedly one of our most creative outlets, would be a good idea.

Jones is a winger who can play also full/wing back if needed. Engel is not.

I think Engel may have started out as a striker. I think I read that somewhere…

I don’t think Engel is naturally a wing back, or at least needs to play with more composure and less instinct.

Edit. He was a left winger at Velje.

Think Engel has been playing with an injury, so Carrick has decided to give Thomas a run of a few games

Reckon we might see Engel back in away at Ipswich
