Seems to me that Houchen has used a name to which he had no rights. He should have done due diligence.Ben's an absolute tool and has managed this situation - like most other situations he manages - very poorly.
However... this thread is about controlling OUR money...
You speculatively bought IP for the airport with the sole intention of selling it on for a profit - and then asked for £250,000 for it...
Would OUR money have been controlled better in your bank account?
Or am I missing something here?
Watch video. 0.3% of £80,000,000 paid to Peel for right IP would not have been proscriptive. Ben knew my price throughout and failed to include it in budget. Thank goodness this commercial opportunity hadn’t been spotted by rich Middle Eastern g gentleman! Price would have been much higher.
Strongest form of protection is company names. I owned Teesside International Airport Limited and Teesside Airport Limited as well as trade marks and domain names. Wasn’t ‘squatting’. Offered IP suite for sale/license in witnessed presentation to Peel Airports at Doncaster Airport on Brexit vote day in 2016 long before Ben Houchen ever became Mayor on 8th May 2017.
But you didn't have a trademark on "Teesside International Airport" you just registered a company name and some Internet Domains. You thought you could make a quick buck and its back fired.Strongest form of protection is company names.
