Why we can’t let Ben Houchen control our money again.

Hang on, so TVCA is using the name Teeside International Airport illegally, as ownership of the IP has not been transferred?

Ben's an absolute tool and has managed this situation - like most other situations he manages - very poorly.

However... this thread is about controlling OUR money...

You speculatively bought IP for the airport with the sole intention of selling it on for a profit - and then asked for £250,000 for it...

Would OUR money have been controlled better in your bank account?

Or am I missing something here?

Seems to me that Houchen has used a name to which he had no rights. He should have done due diligence.

Watch video. 0.3% of £80,000,000 paid to Peel for right IP would not have been proscriptive. Ben knew my price throughout and failed to include it in budget. Thank goodness this commercial opportunity hadn’t been spotted by rich Middle Eastern g gentleman! Price would have been much higher.

The thread isn't about the act or the event itself, it's about letting Houchen control OUR money.

If Houchen gave you £250,000 for some IP that you (very cleverly) purchased for a fraction of that price... WE probably wouldn't even know that OUR money was in your bank account.

From what I can see your IP was for Teesside Airport and the new IP is Teesside International Airport? so its different

or am i missing something?

Trademark squatters can be sorted out by any decent IP lawyer.

If you're not putting the IP to fair use it's a waste of time and money.

Strongest form of protection is company names. I owned Teesside International Airport Limited and Teesside Airport Limited as well as trade marks and domain names. Wasn’t ‘squatting’. Offered IP suite for sale/license in witnessed presentation to Peel Airports at Doncaster Airport on Brexit vote day in 2016 long before Ben Houchen ever became Mayor on 8th May 2017.

It is squatting. You bought them with the intention of waiting until someone needed them in order to ransom them off at the highest price possible to make a profit for yourself.

It's one shady business practice vs. another shady business practice.

To create a thread about controlling OUR money is playing on forum users potential naivety too. You'd have done the same to Labour or anyone who wanted to own the airport.

OUR money being in Houchens pocket is essentially exactly the same as OUR money being in yours.

But you didn't have a trademark on "Teesside International Airport" you just registered a company name and some Internet Domains. You thought you could make a quick buck and its back fired.

I do not like Houchen at all but I can't condemn him for trademarking a name for an Airport that you didn't own
