BrewDog Beers

I've just read the co-founder has stood down and made me think. Is it just good marketing? Or do other people actually like their beers? When I was drinking I tried many and went to a couple of BrewDog bars. Plus now tried all the zero % beers and I haven't found one (alcohol or non) that doesn't taste thin and a bit bland. Am I expecting too much?

Elvis Juice is the only one worth bothering with and even then the Aldi own label rip off is better

I don’t mind an occasional Elvis juice as well but can only stomach 1 but then have to go onto something else. Couldn’t drink it all night. I can also get away with a single Punk IPA, Hazy Jane or a lost lager but again only 1 of each then onto something else. None of their products are something I’d enjoy supping all night.

Some OK, some not. All a bit over priced and over hyped.

But then I'd rather have a well kept pint of Cameron's Strongarm (other traditional beers are also acceptable) than 90% of "craft beers".

Rank. Tried most of them when I worked in Aberdeen. Hated them.
Used to do my head in when the lads arranged to meet in there.

It is well branded though. I'll give them that. I wish I did like it as it looks appealing.

Hazy Jane is ok, and the Black Heart stout is decent. Apart from that, they're very average beers. So many better craft brews out there. Pollys, Vocation, Brew York, Northern Monk all destroy Brewdog in terms of quality, loads more, that's just off the top of my head.

Now the food in Brewdog is another matter. The burgers are really good, The spicy chicken one is amazing!

Their 500 cuts botanical rum is one of the most foul I've ever tasted. Never tell people you liked something they bought you just to be polite. Brother in law bought me another bottle.

Beers and Lagers are all about marketing, it's 99% of it, and Brew Dog are brilliant at it.

I'm convinced nobody actually "likes" the taste of larger or beer though, and they just drink them as it's the done thing, or they just want the feeling of being drunk or tipsy.

It's like craft beers etc, nobody really likes them, they taste like crap made in someone's wheely bin (and some probably are), people just think it's cool, so it's like a mental trick on themselves or others. It works though, so fair play, everyone's happy.

I still drink larger, not so much beer, but only when I want to be boozy, wouldn't drink it if there was nil effect. Would drink spirits straight from the off, but they go down at the same pace as l would drink a pint, so that's no sustainable on the wallet, head or liver.

Some of their occasional beers tgat they sell in the bars can be very good, their core range, as said above is no better than ok and inferior to top brewers like verdant

Brewdog has changed for the worse alot over the years. Over the years their QC has gone up, the original quality checks when they were a real upstart brewery were trash, but the actual beers have gotten worse over the years... another tale of enshitification.

I tried Punk for the first time after stumbling across it picking up beers for a party in 2007 (i think). Loved it as it was a fairly strong, and reeeealy heavily hopped, IPA. Tried some of their other stuff buying to order direct from the brewery. None of the beers today are a patch on their originals. Punk is a shadow of what it was. Black Heart isn't a fraction of what Riptide Stout was, its just another Guiness-like. Few of their limited run ones today hit the spot compaired to stuff from other smaller craft places. I will always curse them for ruining the Paradox beers by jacking up the ABV, the original 10% ABV Isle of Arran and Smokhead Paradox beers were phenomenal and more than strong enough.

It's a shame. Their original runs from when they hit Tesco shelves till they really went commercial and started opening bars was really good. Since then it's been about pumping out the shareholder value and, as usually happens in that situation, the quality has dropped for profit to where they are now just another average big name beer producer.

I refer you to the breweries in my post above, give it a try, they have some really great beers.
