£2 for a 40 minute bus ride

Didn’t realise there were concessions. I did Ashington to Newcastle last week for £2 and was pleasantly surprised.

My dad does the same.. also Northern do some cheap advance tickets every so often (not much more than £5)so I sort them out for him
I found Whitby tickets for £3 booking in advance. Go on train get bus back see different scenery.

At 60 if you live in London you can get a Freedom Pass. The Freedom pass gives free travel on all buses, trains and tubes within the M25. It would around £2,500 a year to purchase. It an example of how some London residents are subsidised.
You can't. You get an Oyster 60+ Pass. A Freedom Pass is only available when you reach state retirement age or are disabled. And it's available on lines as specified, not those 'within the M25'. The M25 is a road that was constructed mainly in the 1980s and has no function or relevance as a boundary whatsoever. With an Oyster 60+ pass you can sometimes go beyond the M25 and sometimes not depending on the route. Also, it is not valid at all times of day with a 9:00 or 9:30 cut-off on weekdays depending on the form of transport or line you are using.

To be fair, a lot of people call them Freedom Passes even thought they aren't Freedom Passes. In fact, if you tap in on a 'bus with an Oyster 60+ it registers as a Freedom Pass so it's easy to understand the confusion. But the M25 is still a road, and that's all it is.

Capy - don't you think you are been a tad pedantic - its basically a public transport free travel card for the over 60s in London and worth a lot of money if it had to be bought. This was the key point I wanted to highlight.

Retirement is 66 at present and 67 for people born from April 1960.

I will check on if all bus fares are £2 - last time I used a bus outside London it was £3.50 to go 2.5 miles.
I was born April 1960 and my official retirement age is 66 Years and 1 Month

Don't get the ones that stop at Hartlepool and Sunderland when the mackems are at home! I made that mistake once going to the Seaham food festival.
I’m very careful about which ones I book these days. Will only get the one that stops at Sunderland after making the mistake you mention above 😂
