£2 for a 40 minute bus ride

Just started a trial (?) on a car free lifestyle (after 40 odd years driving).
Went to a mates in a nearby village (Lincoln) yesterday.

Pretty surprised at how cheap it was

Will do this for at least 6 months and see how it works out before committing long term.

Anyone want to buy an EV car charger 😂

In theory. The government has extended it until 31 Dec 24 with a promise to review. I'm fairly confident that the current government will not be extended past that date, however
It’s already had 2 extensions by the same government that you say wouldn’t extend it

It's £2 to travel from Teesside to Newcastle I believe. I'm lucky to be on a bus route with an excellent service to Hartlepool, Stockton and Middlesbrough, plus the Go North East route to Newcastle.

I can see the fares being maintained and integrated with train fares once we get rid of the 'only shareholders count' government.

We've got to start looking across the North Sea for good examples of governance rather than to the cowboys across the Atlantic. If we can get more people on to public transport it's far better for society's health and the environment.

Lincoln is getting more night buses too I see. You can go to Skegness for 2 quid at the moment!

You can get the northern train from Newcastle to Boro for as little as £3.50.
Direct train 1 hr 20.
Seems like an absolute bargain as train fares go.
You get the added bonus of seeing the Durham coastline on the way.

Its not £3.50 very often. Its 2 hours on the x10 from boro to newcastle via stockton, norton, billingham, peterlee, dalton park, heworth and gateshead.

Its probably longer now with the Tyne Bridge repairs which makes the train the sensible option

The journey time has lengthened since the service was combined with the X9, which is a shame. It now takes so much longer to get through Teesside.

Even if you book late it's only a fiver, still good value.

Get yourself a bus pass for free travel. Starts at 60 (or used to) so you can't be far off. ;-)
Not in England, the Tories changed the rules, in England you have to wait until your retirement age for a bus pass*
*unless in London, where the London mayor has agreed that you can have a bus pass at 60.

Scotland and Wales as well as Northern Ireland still get bus passes at 60

So basically anywhere that the Tories don't control.
