You can get the northern train from Newcastle to Boro for as little as £3.50.
Direct train 1 hr 20.
Seems like an absolute bargain as train fares go.
You get the added bonus of seeing the Durham coastline on the way.
Shame the metro doesn't do the £2 thing.Yeah I couldn’t believe that when I came back from the airport a few weeks ago… 4 quid or something. My taxi from Boro train station cost more!
I don’t mind Skeg. Out of season nice and quietYou’d have to pay me more than that to go to skeggy

It's at retirement age. Now 67, I think.Get yourself a bus pass for free travel. Starts at 60 (or used to) so you can't be far off. ;-)
As far as I'm aware, it's all service buses like the concessionary bus pass. The £2 bus routes are set routes, ordinary bus fares are not cheap.
Yesterday I used a bus in London are it was only £1.80 and then used another bus within 60 minutes of the first one and that was free. I think you can use as many buses as you like in the 60 minutes. Its called hopper fares.
At 60 if you live in London you can get a Freedom Pass. The Freedom pass gives free travel on all buses, trains and tubes within the M25. It would around £2,500 a year to purchase. It an example of how some London residents are subsidised.
