£2 for a 40 minute bus ride

You can get the northern train from Newcastle to Boro for as little as £3.50.
Direct train 1 hr 20.
Seems like an absolute bargain as train fares go.
You get the added bonus of seeing the Durham coastline on the way.

Yeah I couldn’t believe that when I came back from the airport a few weeks ago… 4 quid or something. My taxi from Boro train station cost more!

The £2 bus routes are set routes, ordinary bus fares are not cheap.

Yesterday I used a bus in London are it was only £1.80 and then used another bus within 60 minutes of the first one and that was free. I think you can use as many buses as you like in the 60 minutes. Its called hopper fares.

At 60 if you live in London you can get a Freedom Pass. The Freedom pass gives free travel on all buses, trains and tubes within the M25. It would around £2,500 a year to purchase. It an example of how some London residents are subsidised.

I hammer my free bus pass, Saltburn, Whitby,Staithes ,RHB or upto Richmond , Barney, at least two or three times a week if weather is ok. And the Westie goes free as well. Even the 30 p before 9.30 is good.
I was on the early X93 a fortnight ago and it was a full double decker by time it left Guisbrough. And most were on passes

As far as I'm aware, it's all service buses like the concessionary bus pass.

Retirement is 66 at present and 67 for people born from April 1960.

I will check on if all bus fares are £2 - last time I used a bus outside London it was £3.50 to go 2.5 miles.

Just had a look on the Gov.Uk site.

Depends where you are living and travelling to.

Teesside and north east has more at the concession than not included.
