šŸ™Cut your energy bills nearly in half with Octopus Tracker

I got an e-mail saying the waiting list for the tracker had finished, so people can just get on that straight away now, it coincided with me baing able to now go on the tracker so I've done that for Gas, but I'm going to stick on Agile for the electric.

I was getting paid 20p per kWh to use electricity on Saturday at some points, so I charged everything I own  Just a shame cars were already charged, otherwise I could have made about Ā£20.

In the month I've been on Agile my electric bill has halved, and expect the Gas tracker to do similar.

what is this Agile all about? I saw a guy on twitter with it on saturday posting about saving a fortune charging his car up for -18p per KWh

Price fluctuates with the time of day, and it's different values each day. But fairly consistent with when it's high and when its low. Main thing is try and keep use low between 4pm and 7pm.

Saturdays are often cheap, so good for charging the car, and when it's windy the rates go really low.

You can see what the next days rates are at 4pm.

It does have low rates at times, but higher at others but generally tracker averages lower unless you can significantly load shift into the night or charge EV, and even then tracker is cheaper for some, or close without the need to track time of use or load shift

I don't have an ev but if I was on agile octo aid days I would have paid Ā£90 more over the year. If I had an ev it may be better but the rest of my use in the more expensive time frames may offset that

Yeah it works for me, as I WFH, and doesn't take much effort to load shift, most of it is natural for me anyway, without really trying.

I haven't been making the most of it mind as I keep forgetting to charge on Saturday's which can make a massive difference, I'm still cheaper on Agile, but only about Ā£2 per month under the tracker. If our lass was more clued up, and more willing, it would be far better.

If I didn't have an EV the tracker would definitely win though, as that's super easy to load shift.

I got an octopus mini yesterday

It's a small pink device you plug in somewhere in the home and it providers near real time usage updates for elec to the octopus app for current load usage and gives you a graph

Quite neat for free

I signed up last week for the mini.

Got a lad from work referred and his bill with eon was 360. Its now 170 with octopus

Good work, it's quite hard to persuade some people as they're sure it's a trap somehow

My mate is Asian and has his parents live with him and 5 kids and his elec and gas was Ā£570 a month in April. Ā£180 after first month with octopus, gas use will be down but he will be saving a fortune

Got my son on it yesterday, anyone interested please use the above link we can get Ā£50 each.
I've saved a fortune, enrol now even with the new price cap it's still considerably cheaper.
Join before autumn/winter.
Really is a no brainer.

is it still as good on tracker,im on it and seems still decent, but i got a yearly gas and elec summary off octopuss and it says i can save money by switching to their flexible octopuss tracker about 500 pound a yr?

Would or keep identify the exact amount that charging am EV costs in real time and then over a period of time?

Yes, even compared to the new lower price cap

Today elec is 18.4 p gas 3.9p

How do you get the mini please?
I linked a form a few posts back, think they just release them in gluts as they get then in

No, I thought some chargers would show that though? Or be able to access the data via something like home assistant if compatible

You'd see a chart for the day so you'd know when you charged and what the usage is during that time. As well as what live usage is but it's just extra data

How do I change to the tracker tariff?

I've just switched from another supplier but can't find the tracker tariff option. The only page I've seen about it says that sign ups are currently closed and will open again in early July.
