007

I think Fassbender has my vote if they selected one tomorrow… very underrated actor who has a good dark side to him.
I think that's a good shout.

Elba would have been my first choice but he's getting on a bit and they're probably going to want someone in for at least 3/4 films, and maybe up to a decade.

I think Tom Hardy is a bit too big for the role and wouldn't want it dictating his career, he seems more the type to want to move around a bit, doing different things.

Michael Fassbender would be a great choice.

It would be nice for completionist reasons to have a Northern Irish James Bond, then there's been a Bond from every country of the British Isles, but I can't think of any actors that would fit my view of him.
Liam Neeson is far too old now.

Scotland - Sean Connery
Wales - Timothy Dalton
England - Daniel Craig and Roger Moore
Ireland - Pierce Brosnan
Northern Ireland - ?

Fassbender's mum is from Northern Ireland, so I suppose he would sort of count, though he was raised in a very southern part of Ireland.

Colin Farrell?

I'd watch Richard Madden in that role, Sam Heughan too.

Or if they want to go ultra modern, have a podgy guy in a comfy chair directing drone strikes with a joystick. No need for all the running, jumping and climbing trees anymore.

I'd go for Anton du beke. Take it down the Roger Moore route. I don't really see age being a problem. They rebooted with Craig. He was a new agent in the first one. By Skyfall he was over the hill. The latest one he retired. In the new films he should be moaning about everything being too politically correct and be subject to a workplace harassment tribunal.

The code name 007 can be given to any secret agent can’t it? Hence the debate about it not mattering if the agent is old, young, non-white British, LBGT-Q+ BBC ITV or Jedi?
or am i wrong?

I think it's time that the pale, male, and stale 007s of yore are put to bed. This is the perfect chance to bring in a POC, a woman, or someone who can bring an LGBTQIA+ perspective to the modern spy thriller. I think the world has had enough of white men with savior complexes and given the (well overdue) introspection starting to occur around decolonisation, I think this is a great opportunity to put the franchise back on the map!

So who?

I might be shot down in flames for this but no it's not time to change his sexual orientation or gender. Part of the love affair with Bond was his ability to seduce the opposite sex. I am sure a Bond guy will appeal to some but not to everyone.

It would be a huge risk to the franchise if they went with a female or other variation of the Bond character, but I’d be happy with a spin off film about a different agent.

It’s Henry Cavill, Tom Hardy, Richard Madden or Tom Hiddleston for me. Idris Elba is too old now and Tom Holland is at least 10 years too young.

I would have loved Idris Elba as Bond if he was 10 years younger. For now I think Tom Hiddleston or Jamie Dornan ( ticks the NI box from earlier ) would do a great job.
