Agree with this completely. It’s advantageous to the crowd who get robbed every match with the ridiculous amount of time wasting that goes on, almost from the first minute.
Hope this approach continues and filters down to domestic leagues.
“fake injury or slowly dawdle off the pitch to be substituted etc.”Transparency is the key. Have a separate timekeeper to the ref and have the time added on visible to the managers and fans (where possible). Is anyone even that clear on what stoppages count towards "extra time" and what don't?
Teams will soon stop wasting time when they can see it accumulating while they fake injury or slowly dawdle off the pitch to be substituted etc.
As it stands no-one has a clue what's going on till the board goes up and displays the standard "finger in the air" four or five minutes.
Surprised no-one has done a study actually (or have they?) on the amount of time that should be added on in games v what is actually added by refs.
Should take a leaf out of rugbyStop the clock when the ball is dead simple for the likes of free kicks, penalties, VAR decisions
It's a bit of both I'd say.“fake injury or slowly dawdle off the pitch to be substituted etc.”
It’s not really about wasting time though is it . It is all done to break up momentum and relieve pressure.
Referees stopping the game every 2 minutes for nothing is the most frustrating watch no matter how long is added on at the end..
and have the VAR on the big screen with the TMO and the Ref on the speakers in the stadium discussing the decisionShould take a leaf out of rugby
Sounds like you're happy being short changed.I mean there's cracking down on time wasting.. but these matches are massively long.
Game changing! Does this give some sort of advantage to sponsors or something? this games being played 10-15 minutes longer than normal?
