1st half last night was fantastic

It's funny how pulis came here and we weren't a pulis team. By that I mean we didn't score set pieces. They usually make up a huge amount of his team's goals. If you add the set piece goals a pulis team usually scores to our two seasons then we would have finished a fair few places higher.
Now we've got a non Warnock Warnock team.
Flip flopping between styles?
I mean the last successful changeover we had was mowbray to karanka. Whilst they did have different styles of play they were both possession based systems.
Lately I think we've wanted to play the high press and have struggled with it.

This is the biggest problem with our recruitment of managers. Sunderland did it for years and look where it got them. There must be some stability of style and system between managers in my opinion, otherwise you just inherit a team of players incapable of your style of play.

Monk to Pulis was the one which particularly sticks in the throat. An attempt to play expansive, attacking football with high energy to long ball, 11 behind the ball.

In my opinion this should happen less (not at all?) going forward with the appointment of Scott as he should be responsible for both recruitment of manager and players, therefore ensuring a consistent thread in terms of style and system.

it’s fine margins in football.

the same happened at Cardiff - they threw everything at us for the first 15 mins of the second half… but we rode our luck and weathered the storm, and won comfortably in the end.
very good point this. could easily have lost there and won last night. or lost both. or won both.

It was fantastic till their manager got to grips with the situation, made the changes and set about imposing themselves on the game. In the second half it was just a case of how many they'd score. Their centre forward was a handful wasn't he? And that lad Cornick.

I think we were in control in that 1st half up until the last 10 minutes or so but then you could see Luton coming more into it.
Absolutely right. Luton looked dead and buried for 30 minutes, but suddenly Boro started coasting. Luton should have scored twice in the last few minutes of the first half. I wasn't surprised at all what happened in the second half, it was just a continuation of the first half. Warnock always looks so shocked by what's in front of his eyes, you'd think he'd do something other than stare into the headlights.

When did they score their last goal - on 63 mins - we never looked like scoring for the whole of the second half after that.
Even Cardiff with their problems managed to come back from 3-0 down at Stoke recently.
There is no guts in the team.

Great post, some of us can see the makings of a side with pace and movement upfront with young energetic players who are only going to improve.
Unfortunately injuries and fatigue caught up with us last night and throw in a couple of individual mistakes and it wasn't to be. A great full debut from Coburn.

Keep the faith, and don't listen to the Doom and Gloom merchants on here. There's plenty of them 👍😂
If fatigue is a problem 1/3 into the season then we really do have issues

We haven't been able to rotate due to injury.
Crooks and Tav looked knackered tbh
Djiksteel just back from injury
Bamba playing consecutive games etc etc

Chatting at half time last night everyone thought we needed a second and it was no surprise that we capitulated.

Atmosphere was great for an hour though.

On your point about rotation and fatigue. We have used 25 players this season. Coventry have used 6 less. Coventry lie 4th.

We knew there was going to be a physical onslaught at the start of the 2nd half so we should made sure we cleared our lines instead of over elaborating at the back. Problem is we have mcnair thinking he is Beckenbauer and wingers at wingback who think the can dribble out of trouble in dangerous areas. If we get bola back soon then i think it will make a difference i would then push jones foward drop hernandez who to me is a dicky dancer who plays for himself and doesn't contribute to the team.
