2022 V AK squad

Riis seems to be getting mensioned more now so maybe he could be in by the end of the week instead if Larsen
It does seem that way doesn't it! But then who is the midfielder we are in for? The final piece in the puzzle?
COUGH! COUGH! Oliver Abildgaard - Defensive Midfielder - Rubin Kazan - Free - 26yo 6’4 ‘The Danish Sander Berge’ LEFT FOOTED

Like your idea of defensive newy. Made 1 tackle then had ten 30yd screamers and camped in the opponents box😀

You think only one player from a squad which went from 15th to 7th in half a season would get in the side which came second (level on points with 3rd)?
I disagree, and disagree more, seeing as we've improved that squad, but it will take some more time than others to realise this.

The strikers are the easiest to compare, as their roles don't change much, but our top scorer back then in the Championship (Nugent) had 8 goals in 40 games, Sporar got that in fewer games last year, and he's probably worse than all of our 6 current strikers. Watmore only got one less than Nugent and he was sub most of the season. Crooks would have got a game up front in the Karanka promotion side.

Downing wouldn't get in ahead of Giles in any game, and Adomah won't create as much as Jones, and certainly isn't as good going backwards.

I'd 100% take Stuani and put him up front, and Ramirez, maybe Fabbrini too, hard to say about the rest as the roles were very different.

Dimi might be a better keeper and suits Karanka's side, a lot more than Steffen, but Dimi wouldn't get in this side.
I agree with some of the points you make but Downing would walk into this team or any other Boro team I’ve been watching since about 1985, the best footballer we’ve produced in at least two decades, maybe more.

Still a good footballer though, never seen anyone who could pass a ball like him.
Why the fcuk he didn't go and play MLS after Blackburn I do not know?!?!?

Kaka is still out here playing at 40yo and he retired about 10 years ago!! I swear to god a diagonal pass would be seen as witch craft! Total lack of pace, lack of urgency. He could be top dog out there for the next two years easy! Can someone get him over to the New York Red Bulls? Also Jonathan Woodgate could do with a stint as manager there. I thought Gerhard Struber was ok for Barnsley! He's absolute dog eggs!!

As posted on SUNDAY!

Dimi - Steffen
Meijas - Roberts

Nsue - Dijksteel
Ayala - Lenihan
Gibson -Fry
Amorebieta - Clarke (new addition)
Friend - Bola

Leadbitter - McNair
Clayton - Crooks
Whitehead - Howson

Tomlin - McGree
Butterfield - Mowett
Downing - Giles

Forss - Vossen
Watmore - Nugent
Hoppe - Kike
Muniz - Bamford

Still to come..
DM De Sart/Zucullini/Chalobah - Pearson/Whiteman/Ampadu
ST Stuani/Kike Sola/Rhodes - Larsen/Riis/Gyokeres

Also last night..

OUT GOES THE OLD GUARD AKA 'THE WARNOCK ERA'

----------------Stojanovic--------------
----------Peltier--Hall--Wood---------
Spence--Payero--Tavernier--Coulson
-------Sporar--Ikpeazu--Balogun-----

AND IN COMES THE WILDER REVOLUTION POWERED BY KIEREN SCOTT

-----------------Steffen---------------------
---------Smith--Lenihan--Clarke-----------
Conteh--McGree--Mowatt--Giles---------
----------Forss--Hoppe--Muniz-----------

Now with just two positions left to replace..

DMF: Siliki: Ben Pearson? Ben Whiteman?
LPF: Connolly: Larsen Strand? Emil Riis?

Signing a 5, 9, 10 and an 11

Clarke, Muniz.. then with another striker and a defensive midfielder to bring in. It's gonna land us in Nicky 'Zico' Bailey territory isn't it!
What about Tavernier's number 7 shirt? Can we not register that again until January?

7 Abildgaard
10 Larsen
11 Riis
12 Whiteman
22 Pearson
24 Barlaser

No defensive midfielder is going to take the number 10 shirt.. are they?
Do you just type words as they pop in your head?
Reading your posts is like reading the results of a brainstorming session for auctioneers.

So should you rate the current squad Bette than the one that got us promoted ?

Steffen
----Dijk-----Lenihan-----Bola
-------------Howson
Jones---Crooks-- Mowatt---Giles
----------Muniz----Forss

Maybe add Larsen to thati

It's quite depressing really this season's squads miles off it. Even squad players like Butterfield to me are better than the likes of McGree and mowatt. Ayala different class to lenihan. I'd even have friend before the much praised Giles. Howson and Giles would make the karanka bench the rest of wilders first team wouldnt get in the Ak's 25. As for managers I'd have karanka over wilder every day of the week

Our defence needs to learn how to keep a clean sheet then wel see

Wilder is an overachiever. Our squad a mid table at best. The fact he got them 7th last season was a testament to him managerial skills

Peak downing would, on the left from 2005 to 2012 ish, not the Downing we got the second time around, he couldn't play wide anymore and wouldn't get in ahead of Giles. The dowing of the second spell could have maybe played in the middle (in this side), but we barely did that when he came back, and that ended up being Ramirez spot.

You can only be as good as the potential sum of your parts, previous guys tried to do it a different way, but it didn't really work out, this way seems better, especially how the squad has progressed.

Mid table

What did you think our squad was last year. Promotion contenders? Settle down

I think we would have got playoffs if Wilder was here all year, but we were missing a striker and a left-sided creative player. The creative thing is sorted, hopefully, Muniz does the Striker bit, he was good enough to back up Mitrovic last year and even if the other strikers do similar to last years we'll get loads more goals as we'll create loads more chances.

I think we'll walk into the playoffs this year, could even sneak top two, depends how the other teams go.

Tav replaced with either McGree or mowatt makes us weaker
Tav's better than both individually (he should, he's a premier league player now) but the pair of them offer more cover, plus we're £12m up (which we hopefully spend).
