When our dad took me & my younger brother to Newcastle to see the mighty Boro & our 1st top flight game away to Newcastle since 26th December 1953
As soon as the Boro came on to the pitch & us Boro fans cheering trouble started with Newcastle buying tickets outside the ground for our end
Me & my brother got seperated from our dad when a few Newcastle fans were asking me & my brother if we'd want to swop scarves, back then they would beat up the opposing fans & knick their scarf, lucky for us, these must have been posh Geordies
John Hickton scored his 5th 1st divison goal, a scorcher too with our end erupting when, IIRC, we took the lead, future Boro star Micky Burns got one of their goals before McDonlad scored the winner we lost the game 2-1
With about 5 minutes of the game remaining & looking overe the wall the hundreds of Newcastle fans waiting outside for the match to finish when our dad eventually got hold of us both & said, right lads, lets get out of of here, as we went down the steps loads of Newcastle fans were running up looking for bother
Big Jacks team
Jim Platt
John Craggs
Frank Spraggon
Graeme Souness
Stuey Boam
Willie Maddren
Bobby Murdoch
David Mills
John Hickton
Alan Foggon
Dave Armstrong
Sub
Alan Willey
