Might be too late for that and if not sounds like it would be a money pit to save and operate it.
It's a shame it was not treated as the icon it is but on the other hand reflects accurately the decay of the old industries that caused it to be built in the first place.
Don't think that is true - it is not beyond repair and if there was a real will we could bring in funding. It could be saved and surely it needs to be saved - it is a massive part of our identity.
 
Sadiq Khan said on the Alistair Campbell/Rory Stewart podcast yesterday that Labour will change the voting system back to what it was for London Mayor. So that might apply to the others too.
Labour didn't oppose the voting system change.
 
I'm not sure reopening the Transporter to working status will be feasible, but it could certainly be preserved and reopened as a visitor attraction.

As i've said before, who actually used it when it *was* working on a regular basis?
