They say these decisions even themselves out over the season, I disagree, we could have something go our way when 3-0 up etc

Do you think we've had more vital decisions go against us then for us, Reading goal at home disalowed, the ridiculous penalty at home to Norwich, for me theres 5 points that we should have onboard

Even losing Hall & Browne players that could have improved us, especially when numbers are becoming thin on the ground

Clutching at straws I’m afraid Erimus..........we are where we are because our strikers so far are not up to it and even if they were nine times out of ten our final ball is poor!
I see where youre coming from & agree but with our strikers been so poor we scored 2 goals which won should have won both games & ended up with one point, as opposed to 6

He’s not clutching at straws at all it’s a good OP. We all know our strikers aren’t the best but they are what they are and we need to keep persisting until we can upgrade.

Got a chance to get another run going now, I think we can do it aswell.

I often think goal difference is a very rough barometer of whether a team "deserves" to be where they are or not. Certainly over the course of a season.

It's not just about how many goals you score or how few you concede. It's the balance. A positive goal difference indicates you've got a decent balance between attack and defence and therefore a decent team (obviously it can be skewed by one off results, hence it being a very rough barometer).

Ours is +5 which suggests were probably in a fair position give or take. Same as Stoke though who are 5th. But it's such a tight league and the GD of most the top half teams bears that out.

We've also played pretty much every team above us. Easier said than done beating the supposed "weaker" teams but it should be an advantage to us till the halfway point now.

Erimus I think over the 46 games it balances out . I’m not too worried as I think we’re where we belong . Like said above we all know we haven’t got a finisher and you’ll never be anything until you have reliable firepower up front . Everybody knows this and hopefully NW can shake down a few old contacts in January and Gibbo obliges , however a lot easier said than done .

Think youve got a point tbh.wed started that second half well against Norwich and a win would of put us firmly in the mix. Thought the decision was harsh, seen it couple times back and not seeing it. Also seems like intent wasnt considered. One of those things that seem to happen to us. Having said that, penalty at huddersfield was proper soft and we still let a point slip. Decisions are baffling in this league but to be fair, weve got ourselves to blame more than anyone

I agree re those desicions, but I suppose what we don't know is how many similar decisions the teams above have had.

I'm sure it does balance itself over season just not maybe involving only our games, perhaps Norwich will be denied a perfectly good goal whilst we gain a fortunate 3 points whilst not playing well.

I never go on about that was a penalty or not, some are given, other are not
I'm just talking about goals scored & then ruled out which were wrong

I don't think either penalties were penalties IMHO

Might just be because im a boro fan but. Dont you get the feeling that if that had been a Norwich penalty and the same thing happened the goal would of stood? Any what bothers me more is games where could of been a bit more adventurous. Blackburn for example. Thise games where you turn one point into three are what makes you a top team not grinding put draws or losing cos of the odd bad decision

I posted the below on July the 1st. Warnock has obviously improved us but until we start scoring more regularly we're going to be also rans. The £70 odd million we've squandered since relegation is a real sickener looking at that.

14/15 goals scored 68 GD 31
15/16 goals scored 63 GD 32
17/18 goals scored 67 GD 22
18/19 goals scored 49 GD 8
19/20 goals scored 39 GD -11

Definite trend there!

"balancing out over a season" is nonsense. Things might do. They also might not.

Some teams will get more than their share of luck and others the opposite.

It certainly doesn't follow that if you've been unlucky in a few games earlier on in the season you'll definitely get some luck later on the season. I really don't understand why people seem to think this.

It is what it is, I'm more than happy with the season so far, 3 points off the playoffs, take that any day , we have improvement still to come from the squad.
C'mon Boro the play offs are within reach, easy reach because we are as good if not better than some teams above us just now.

Totally agree. But youve got to out and win games by beating teams. Do that consistently and you wont need to worry about the games things dont go your way. That being said, how great is it to be complaining we’re not top two compared to where we were last year. Shame Warnock is only here for the test of the tear because given time and a moderate budget not even Karanka sized budget, he’d have us up. I just yhink enjoy this season. We might make the play offs but something tells me we’ve started a bad runas sides have figured us out and we’ll end up finishing somewhere like 11th
