Aaron Connolly Admits He Had Issues

Well most people on here got this kind of idea from a quick google last January, but not the club by all accounts...
of course they knew. But it's a gamble that didn't pay off. They probably thought get him out of the way up north, and playing for Wilder, and he might be fine. Plus it was only a few months they needed hm to be focused for. Didn't work like that of course

i read the Brighton message boards about him and it was mostly about his off field antics .... smacks of a desperate decision

I think Connolly is using the I had issues line to disguise the fact he is never going to be good enough to play Championship football.

If we're looking for a perfect angel, with immense football talent, low wages and his parent club is willing to let him go on loan then we'll be looking at an extremely limited pool of players.

You'll never get a 100% perfect player, and so you have to weigh the good up v's the bad and make a decision / take a risk which is what we did with him.

I would like to think there’s probably some middle ground. Somewhere in between “a 100% perfect player”…. And Aaron Connolly

Possibly not though. Not in the black and white world of football message boards.

i agree too, whatever was going on doesn't make you an awful finisher. He actually worked hard, which is the bit you wouldn't expect if he had too many distractions

No, but to claim there is a "lack of football ability" is a stupid statement, and nothing like saying a film is rubbish.

Art is subjective, footballing ability less so. To claim someone who has made it to the top 1% of his chosen career, something millions have tried and failed to do, and is paid tens of thousands a week by a professional PL club, not to mention getting 8 caps for his country has a lack of ability is just not true.

How do you account for the probably hundreds of people involved in the game, who've spotted and nurtured his talent since he was say ten years old, whilst letting thousands of other talented people fall by the wayside in favour of AC ? Have they all been fooled by this lads lack of talent ?

He may not be the player you wanted him to be, he may never win a single trophy, but to claim he has a lack of ability is just silly.
Never said he had a lack of footballing ability 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️
If you read my post properly, I said people are giving their opinion in context of him being a professional footballer in a pool of players - not judging him based on their ability. He was certainly nowhere near the standard of other players of a similar age - Balogun for example.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion, and that goes for fillums, music, art, architecture whatever.
Of course he's not "sh*t" - I play 5-a-side with an ex Man City academy player and he is on a different level completely......multiply this by 50 and you would get Connollys level which is, as you say, pretty exceptional.
