Abbreviating Stephen or Steven to mere 'Ste'

Some of the lads:

Jaws - because he had some gold fillings and big teeth like a shark.
Hoots - had a large nose.
Wing nut - had ears like wing nuts.
Grabs - could pick up anything.
Stick - skinny as a rake

Heard of a lad getting called "Gravy" before which I thought was odd.
Apparently it was because he "went with owt".😁

On a slightly different topic, I'm a steve as well. Teesside appears to be the only place I know in the world where you can greet someone using the C word and it be absolutely fine....example....
"Hey Ste yer dafcun...how you doing like? Haven't seen ya for ages n that like...."

Yeah, the C-word as a term of endearment. Caught me out down here a few times, that has :D

I'm a Steve. I've always been Steve.

That's unless I'm getting a telling off and my mum would call me Steven.... I knew I was in trouble lol.

Yet we've had a new site boss who's taken over at my work. He's printed my name off for my hi viz. It says Steven and he calls me it. Trust me I'd prefer Ste 🙄
