For anyone who hasn't seen this film I can't recommend it enough.

I won't give any of the story away here, but it has brilliant performances from the two main characters.

It's films like this that really get under your skin.

Basic premise is a father and daughter share a holiday in Turkey, much of which is shown through home video they recorded together.

I don't want to go any further than that because I don't want to give anything away, but its an incredible film.

I don't think there was a "message" as such, rather it's about the relationship between the two main characters, how they are at times inverted and not the traditional parent child dynamic, how the daughter sees her father differently due to age and becoming a parent herself.

I thought the ending was outstanding and made you see much of the film in a different way.
 
I tried this the other day but only managed about 30 minutes and realised I’d spent most of that time looking at my phone. When does it kick in? I’ve heard it recommended before.

It is a slow burner for sure, I actually watched it in two parts and the first half didn't really grab my attention.

But the ending puts entirely different context on the rest of the film and made me see the earlier scenes is a very different light.

I know a couple of others didn't enjoy it, but I thought it was outstanding.

James O’Brien gave it a really good review the other week, saying it’s one of those films that stays with you.

I’ll give it another go.
