Aj v Ngannou

However I do think you can take some things from last night. AJ showed he is carrying immense power. He also showed he's fighting with a lot more confidence than he was 2 or 3 years ago. He's really impressed me in his last 3 fights, irrelevant of opponent.

Yeah, I agree. AJ’s arms looked massive. There is some power there!

I don’t like AJ, happy to admit that.

I don’t think you can read too much into last nights fight. It doesn’t make AJ the best in the world like Hearn was banging on about. Boxing is a funny sport - AJ will have to fight again, maybe even twice, before Fury and Usyk have fulfilled their contractual obligations. Maybe by then he’ll get a shot at the belts.

And even if AJ gets his shot does he beat the fighter that’s beat him twice already? Or the fighter that has beat Usyk? Probably not.
I don't mind AJ and don't get all the negativity that surrounds him. I have always felt that Fury beats AJ easily but it is a fight that should have happened two or three years back and both are past their sell-by date. Both can still perform at a high level but it is not the fight it should have been.

Fury will never fight Usyk. He will also never fight Joshua. Fury picks his fights carefully and has avoided through spurious contract issues and late ‘injuries’ fights against people he knows he can’t beat. Fury will retire very soon - presumably some significant injury / health issue will be revealed. Usyk would finish Fury in less than 4 rounds. Based on last night Joshua would knock Fury out just as quickly. Best bet to put your money on at the moment is the planned Fury fight with Usyk doesn’t go ahead (again).

Fury has proven he can put on world class performances against top 3 calibre fighters. AJ hasn’t done that in his entire career unless you think going life and death with Klitschko who could hardly lay a glove on Fury 2 years earlier was world class I suppose.
Different ways to look at it Klitschko is undoubtedly a legend and both boxers beat him within 18 months. Klitschko didn’t hurt fury but then fury never hurt him either.

AJ got hurt by Klitschko but he hurt Klitschko a lot more

Im not sure who these top 3 are that fury has beaten. Wilder was never a top 3, he had a career of knocking over tomato cans.

AJ has beaten slightly better boxers

Aj is a bell whiff.
All an act, he's had so much pr training and still comes across as a t*t.
Fury has alot of mental issues, talks absolute shight.
I like parker seems like genuinely good man, hope he gets a title shot soon.

Very easy night's work for Joshua. Obviously according to quite a few on here, he should have been retired. But those same people will probably now start saying he's unbeatable again 🤣

It's no surprise Eddie Hearn is talking rubbish once more. Joshua was beaten twice conclusively by Usyk, but Hearn has somehow worked out he's number one in the division after beating Ngannou and Wallin.

Have always thought Joshua would have a good chance against Fury. But that seems even more like the case now with Joshua becoming more technical and Fury potentially on the decline and has probably been overrated in any case. That's not to say Fury couldn't beat him of course.

The casuals will be scratching their heads again. Parker was finished after losing to Joyce. Joyce was finished after losing to Zhang. Now Zhang is finished after losing to....

Hearns a great promoter and hype man, he’s just doing his job.

I think the biggest problem with Fury is he hasn’t led the best lifestyle and the constant ballooning between fights is never great, just look at Hatton. He dropped like a lead ballon. He’s been down in his last 4 or 5 fights. You can’t keep getting away with that in the HW division. Sooner or later it’ll catch up to him. Usyk may not be a natural HW, although he’s getting bigger everytime we see him. He’s such a tricky character and has phenomenal boxing IQ and has a great engine.

The WBC has said it will not order a mandatory after the two Usyk vs Fury fights. Leaves the way open for the winner to fight Joshua.

'WBC clears winner of Fury-Usyk to face Joshua'

I believe the IBF will order a mandatory though so it is likely that the undisputed title would not be on the line as the IBF belt would need to be vacated.

You'd imagine Joshua would have to fight at least once before that fight. Any fight Joshua has with the winner would be December at the earliest.

It's also more likely to be December 2025 at the earliest if the contracted rematch takes place.

The fact that the Fury fight has been put back has left AJ in limbo again. The first Usyk Fury fight should have been done and dusted and everybody's next step should have looked more clear.

It sounds like Zhang / Parker could be a rematch.

I think AJ either takes another keep busy fight or just sits it out until Fury/Usyk 1 is done and we see what materialises out of that.

Amazing to read some many put weightage on that win for AJ!

I wouldn't expect anything less from a heavyweight boxing champ.

Fury was poor against Ngannou and AJ showed exactly how easy it was to beat him.

At the end of the day he's a UFC fighter...not a boxer.

As for AJ. In the form of his life? Who's he fought of late? Wallin, Helenius and Franklin? Come off it.

Usyk absolutely schooled him, twice, and it wouldn't surprise me if Fury did the same, although I doubt that fight ever happens.

Much like I doubt Fury v Usyk will ever happen.

I don't see either Fury or Usyk being heavy handed enough to win by a really heavy KO that might delay or remove the idea of a rematch. I think the rematch will happen sadly.

So if they fight April, it's not out of the question for a rematch in say October, then a re-unification the winner vs hopefully Joshua next April? Thing is Fury is on the decline, he's had some heavy blows against Wilder, Wallin as well was tough and Ngannou and 217 full rounds of boxing under his beltat age 37 potentially when he fights AJ. If he has two Usyk fights I wouldn't be surprised for 2x 12 rounders. So he could have close to 250 miles damage on his tyres.

AJ only has 136 full rounds under his belt, Klitschko, Ruiz and the first Usyk fight will have taken a bit of toll on him, but not really to the level the three Wilder fights did. I'd expect him to be much fresher as well as a year younger. I'd heavily favour AJ IF, IF they fight after the two Usyk fights.

For the first time in my life, I am starting to sway towards an AJ win if he ever does meet Fury. However, open to having my mind changed back if Fury turns it round against Usyk.

If Usyk beats Fury I there's a good chance the rematch doesn't happen. I'm not sure Fury has it in him to come back from a loss.

If Fury beats Usyk I think Usyk will want the rematch but getting Fury back in the ring will be a nightmare. It won't be something that happens quickly. Fury's history of honoring rematches isn't great. He would do everything possible to wriggle out of it.

It's not just the opponents he's beating but it is the manner that he is doing it. He looks a lot more compact. Head movement has improved. His shots look heavy. He's letting his hands go a bit more and looks far more confident. I think the l 18 months is exactly what he needed to get back to his best. I don't think he can ever beat Usyk but he definitely has a chance against Fury.
