Why do we need another left sided player. If anything we need a rightback
Because we can all see Coulson isn’t good enough as back up. Long season, a lot to ask Engel to play every game first season. Much needed competition down the left side where we have desperately needed.

This looks done. Think it has been going on all summer. Last day let’s get a striker who can hit the net and I’ll be happy. The squad looks a lot stronger than last week, but we desperately need a striker to compete with Lath, fingers crossed we can do it. My misses is a big Leeds fan and tells me Greenwood is no striker, number 10 yes but isn’t going to net loads for us and isn’t the striker we still need. He has one hell of a free kick and dead ball delivery she also tells me.

Only slight thing that concerns me is the lack of experience still. Yeah we’ve brought players in who we feel we can develop, but the team in my personal opinion still looks very short on know how and experience in a bloody hard league. I hope I’m proved wrong. But I’m glad the club have backed Carrick and have seen like all of us we were well short of competition in a few departments.

Talking of left backs the very good Ian Maatsen who was on loan to Burnley last season and was very a key player in their team is going to West Ham for £25m plus.

He rejoined Burnley I think CD.

Edit - could be just paper talk!

"Left-back Ian Maatsen has sealed a one-year loan move to Burnley from Chelsea, according to The Telegraph.

In the deal, Chelsea have included an obligation to buy clause of £31.5m including add-ons.

Maatsen spent last season on loan at Burnley and made 39 appearances in their Championship winning campaign. "

Who can forget Chris Morris playing at left back for Robbo, and that knee-high tackle on Keith Gillespie.
That was the only thing of merit in morris's boro career. Celtic did us well and truely with morris and white both absolute poney. Come to think of McNair is very similar to derik whyte ball playing centreback with no awareness of danger and prone to cataclysmic mistakes.

He's very good. Yet weirdly, unless the BBC website has got it wrong he lined up as a 10 for Chelsea in the EFL Cup on Wednesday...

Agree 100% about Morris. Always thought Whyte was decent, especially at Left Back in our first promotion season under Robbo.
