Another summer rebuild?

A lot will depend on what some players have in their mind about their future. Apart from the loanees leaving and not including Crooks or Coulson, we will have 5 players who just have 1 yr left on their contracts only 1 of which we will prob let them run it down if it suits both parties T.Smith(as he will be 33 ) McGree , Jones and Clarke will need chatting to and extension offers, Dijksteel I have no idea about what the club feel.

Dieng, Glover, Fry, Dijksteel, Lenihan, Clarke, RVDB, Bangura, Engel, Hackney, McGree, Azaz, Jones, Forss, Latte Lath

Howson - depending on how he does the rest of the season.

I wonder if Carrick will walk if the board sell all our best prospects in the summer - and judging by the speed with which they off-loaded Rogers I think it's a very real possibility. Will he want to start rebuilding again with the same collection of kids, free transfers and other teams cast-offs that he got given this year,

It feels like the Charlie Amer days when the team was systematically dismantled to pay for his sports club - and we know how that ended up.
 
Welcome to the Championship guys, if you do well you have to try and get promoted or your prize assets will get sold off

Coventry lost Gykores and Hamer
Huddersfield lost O'Brien and Toffolo

That's why last season was so disappointing

I dont think its quite that bad however gibsons prudence will cost us promotion and ultimately carrick to leave.

That would be the ultimate disaster if Carrick decided he had enough and wanted a different type of challenge. Summer will be interesting. From listening to Scott on the 12th man podcast, didn't seem like the contract offer was done and dusted. Boro need Carrick probably more than he needs us.
 
Just have to get used to it. The way we are being run anyone that's any good will be sold if the money is decent. When they go and any loans go back we will be rebuilding every season.

We suggest some cracking players , taking time and effort , only for the men who make the decisions , do absolutely nothing , sell the Crown Jewels , and give us Hoppe , Gilbert .
' it is what it is ' our legends said , I just want the best for my club and will continue suggesting random players who I think are good enough to wear the shirt .

I think there is at least some long term thinking now - we generally know how we are going to play - we have more depth this year - even if we lost players there would be some growth/continuation from in the young group here.

It might be that Silvera/Barlaser/Lath/Coburn/Azaz grow with the team more. Maybe even Gilbert blossoms after a season on the fringes.

If they are not sold (and hopefully the Rogers sale gives us more strength to hold on) Hackney and VDB should be growing to two of the best players at this level.

Engel/Bangura should have had a full season to settle even if injury hit and both are ages where you would expect growth.

I would be far from devastated - all decent players that have had time to work with Carrick.
 
I honestly dunno how we get anywhere and build anything with this model as its just a revolving door losing half the side every summer and signing alot of players that need bedding in time. Causing bad bad starts to seasons that end up costing us in the end game. If we only got 2 wins in that first 7 we be in top 6 now alot more optimistic.

We have consistently improved our squad for less and brought in funds.. if we continue to improve then we go up. We’re in a good shape.. we have stability and financial security.

We’re getting everything we’ve wanted.. injuries have hampered us this season.. but we can still pull it back.
