Ansu Fati to Brighton - Season Long Loan

Cause he's not as good as the hype made for him said he was, plus injuries.

Barca have had a bit of a lean spell with their La Masia talent in general being hyped and not delivering. Alena, Puig, Munir, Nico, Cuenca, Miranda, Perez, Ruiz, Denis Suarez, Samper were all variously highly rated there over the last 5-10 years and done nothing at Barca. Fati's probably had more of a chance than any of those and shown a bit more, but I can't imagine they'd loan out a Gavi for instance if they rated him that highly, this just sort of seems more like "you're not progressing as we'd hoped, here's a loan".

Plus they have that other kid now, Lamine Yamal, who only turned 16 a month ago and is already starting La Liga games for them.

He's a ridiculous talent that's been held back by injuries. Hopefully Brighton can get the best out of him, amazing signing this one.

Really cool that he’s gone there rather than Chelsea or Spurs or one of the usual suspects. Interesting to see Brighton playing in that end of the market, ambitious and very different for them.

Yeah, as above he burst onto the scene at 16 years old with immense potential (inherited the 10 shirt from one L. Messi) but held back by lots of injuries and hasn’t done much for a couple of seasons. It’s not like they’re loaning out Pedri or Gavi, the real crown jewels.

Barcelona are also on some financial tightrope - gossip is that the chairman and secretary put their own houses up as collateral to be able to register Cancelo. Absolute basket case behaviour that you’re more likely to see in the Northern League than at the top end of La Liga.

Be so interesting to see how he does but wouldn’t expect an instant world beater.

He's a quality player when he's on his game, but he's struggled ever since he got that number 10 shirt.

Just reading this on BBC

Absolute nuts transfer!

Quite like Brighton and how they go about their business so I am eager to see how this one unfolds, will be good to see how he does in the PL!

What a coup for Brighton, even if he has fell out of favour a bit.

Teams around Europe looking at Brighton knowing they can get them in to a team that look to play good football. Barca might have an eye on their recent sales and think a year at Brighton will make them a lot of money at the end of a loan spell.
