Anti vaxers

The WHO study on this is fairly conclusive. The primary reason is fear followed by religious belief. Conspiracy theorists don't even come in the top 5 Woodhall. I am sure there are some nuts out there but most people aren't and have, what they percieve as a genuine fear.
Fair enough but I don’t think that would include most of those people at the demonstration shown earlier in this thread.

Oh I am not arguing that some people will have their own reasons but not 10%of people. Of the percentage that don't get vaccinated the vast majority won't go on marches and won't protest. They will likely recognise that their fear is irrational and not want to highlight that.

Andy,

Why are some posters on here saying its too early to go the Riverside on August 14th?

A lot are saying they will go, but wear a mask at some point, including me, why should this be if we were double vaccinated back in May?

There is a a thread on this.

Are we just too anxious?

Its a genuine question.

Ref Delta variant - we were clearly told that all the vaccines were just as effective against it.

Because to some it might be, it's a political/ social choice, I suppose, and depends how risk-averse people are for themselves, but more importantly others. Everyone should know that going that will add more cases, and that is pretty much going to be our peak infection point hopefully. I say hopefully as if it isn't, it means the peak is going to be higher.

If you're double vaxxed you can still get it, and pass it on, just not as much. But the mask reduces risk, for zero cost. It's not hard to keep the mask on for a few games till we get over the lump? I would say the mask is far more important in the concourse than at your seat, for most areas.

Delta - coverage is the same for hospitalisation and death (pretty much), the vaccines are just as effective, but it spreads miles easier through those who are unvaxed, or not double jabbed. It's a change in the variables to it can spread faster than we could vaccinate, and also it can spread so quickly that it can overwhelm. A slower original variant or even the Alpha (Kent variant) would have been much more preferable, as it can't get out of hand as quick. Look what just happened in the Netherlands with Delta, two weeks of bars open and their cases were up 600%, that couldn't happen with Alpha or the original (what the vaccines were designed for).

Don't forget the vaccine had been designed, and had started testing last summer, long before the Kent variant and almost a year before we were battered by Delta.

Your not wrong bm. Nutters do exist.
Due to the prevalence of misinformation on the internet, they seem to be bolstering those on the edge of nutterdom into crossing over. We've always had loons, but they seem to be more prevalent, louder, and more sure of their beliefs than ever before. I truly believe it's the internet, and it's kind of a hive mind of idiocy growing through our society.

I don't know bm. I did have an interesting chat with a guy from forester yesterday about something unrelated but he was a behavioural expert and he talked about a study forester have done around covid attribution where largely non exists.

I suspect this may also be true of the Internet creating conspiracy theorists and nut jobs.

It does societize them and creates communities but I am not sure it creates them.

well I'm sure the genesis of some of this is varied, from charasmatic loons akin to David Koresh and Icke, to manipulative media personalities like Hopkins and Jenny McCarthy, to foreign powers creating social disharmony and of course our own government playing divide and conquer games. The internet is after all only a tool, you need a fool to handle the tool and drill holes like swiss cheese in a perfectly sturdy wall

You may well be right I am no expert on this, not even particularly well read.

I raise foresters take on this because causation is often wrongly attributed.

I personally have no idea but it was interesting listening to my colleague.

Somebody mentioned yesterdays anti vax protest in Westminster - GBNews had their man there to report from the front line.....not for long. Sincere apologies for the source but it took place during Farage's first show for the network.

And another view

Wow indeed.

One of the banners in the background says something about "the jab implants 5G into your head". So this is "the truth" the mad woman wants media to report on.

This country is as mad as a box of frogs. And of course the irony is GBNews is a station attempting to seriously reflect on their views😒
