Any vegans here?

I went vegan last year and I'm loving the food and feeling more healthy.

Any other vegans here?

What you cooking??

there's quite a few vegan cafes and fast foods here in Bristol, some excellent burgers, but they are expensive. Looking forward to when veganism becomes more mainstream and choices widen. There's a long way to go.

I was veggie for about 20 years before being vegan too, cheese and eggs were always my week spots, then I read lots of stuff and watched lots of documentaries.

Have been thinking about but struggle with the lack of choice. Any meal suggestions apart from burgers?

Been trying to eat Vegan for last 2 months feel much better and wish I done sooner also. It’s surprising how nice some of the ‘fast food’ is, Vegan Royale Burger King and Beyond Meat Breakfast at Starbucks not cheap tho.

Pick Up Limes YouTube Channel is a good one for tips and recipes.

Vegetarian 3 years. Took the vegan leap at the turn of the year. Thought it would be hard, it hasn’t been and I feel much better for it.

That said, I do worry about vitamins/supplements a little. Does anyone have any good recommendations on that front?

Been veggie for years and need to go full vegan but I just can't get away with the 'milk', despite having seen first hand the inbuilt cruelty of the dairy industry.

Yup. Vegan 4 years, veggie over 40. Cooking? Absolutely all sorts!!

You were ahead of the curve 👏👏
35 Veggie and 3 vegan for me

Times have changed for us haven’t they?

On the health front - at 65 I’m the only one of my mates not on tablets of some sort. I can hear most of them coming from miles away with their pill bottles rattling in their pockets

For the OP
Meera Sodha and Ottolenghi do some great recipes - am doing the one below on Sunday
Try making your own Seitan burgers and steak too

The go to appears to be B12 (which is a problem for most people vegan/veggie/or not)

Haven't taken any supplements - if your diet is right you will get enough.
My annual BUPA health check (which is pretty comprehensive) is always pretty good. Doctor's are genuinely surprised when they discuss my health relative my peer group.

B12 is in nutritional yeast, tempeh, soya milk and coconut milk which all feature regularly in our diets.

There is no doubt, however, B12 is easier to get in a non vegan diet

I've been veggie for just over 2 years now and I am swaying more and more towards moving to veganism.

The only thing thats stopped me so far is the switch to no cheese but as my main reason for not eating meat is animal welfare, it doesn't sit right with me that I haven't made the full switch yet.

My girlfriend is vegan and she was actually overdoing the b12, doctor told her told cut down, she was taking 1 multivitamin a day that's it, now it's every other day. Her mum who isn't vegan was b12 deficient and had to supplement. B12 in animal products is fortified, as b12 comes from soil its generally not in alot of meat as most if it isn't grass fed.

Great call on the nutritional yeast. Added to risottos it gives that ‘cheesy’ consistency, and is also a great thickener for sauces and gravies.

I went veggie 36 years ago (I think), tried to be vegan the 1st year for a few weeks, it was hard back then, even being veggie. Now I would like to be vegan but I'd miss my dairy too much now. I do my bit but never preach about why I did it initially and still now. My wife eats meat and I am the cook of the house, so cook meat a fair bit.

Recipes, there are so many out there now, easy to find a meat free alternative. Bean Burritos are one of my go to comfort food. Or even Puy lentil warm salad or aduki bean burgers
