Anybody think this is going to be our season?

Not at the minute, I don't see how anybody can be given the huge holes in the squad and lack of quality in midfield and up front.

We could end August with half a dozen more inspiring signings and things might feel very different, but right now our squad is miles off automatic and short of top 6.

I still think Gibson will allow the quality in and invest, but it is getting very late for it to knit together.
 
No. Still no proven goal scorers and only three senior midfielders. An injury to any of them, or Jones and we‘re down to the bare bones. Tav leaving on the eve of the season hasn’t helped. Saying that there’s weeks of the transfer window left also means very little unless there are already negotiations taking place for players. By the time the window closes, even if players have been brought in, we could well be miles off the pace. I genuinely hope I’m wrong. There have been some positive steps in terms of signings. Giles brings more balance, Lenihen more of a presence at the back and a top keeper (or two) will be a massive positive. Forrs could turn out to be great and all could be rosey. As it stands, we are too short in numbers for it to be “our year”.
 
No, unfortunately not. We don't have enough quality in the 11 or strength and depth in the wider squad to compete to get out of the division, unfortunately.
 
It's far too soon to say, given the fact that we still have no idea what our finished squad a month or more into the season will look like.

The signings thus far have been decent and needed IMHO, and Chris' experience and shrewd manner convince me that at the very least we will be top ten, but it's impossible to see yet how the first eleven will look after our trying to keep pace for the first handful of games.

We could be relying upon winning a whole chain of games on the bounce to force our way back up.

Still, we have a decent manager and you would imagine quite a "war chest" for this division, certainly the most of any side without PP, so I'm optimistic that we could realistically do it this season.
 
Looks like we're building a side for 2023/24. Possibly need to replace the oldest players next year but nothing major.
 
I do sometimes. Happy defensively and was OK with the midfield until Tav went. Still need more strikers in and a creative midfielder.
2/1 odds for promotion are ridiculous.
 
it depends on psychology and belief as much as ability. We will be in the play-off promotion pack with 10 games to go for sure, then it's all about the desire, team spirit. We lost it last season, don't know why, but the team seemed unsettled towards the end, like the belief wasn't there. So, don't underestimate psychology, it can see an average team over the line.
I predict 4th and a play off final, then promotion next season with intelligent investment and if CW stays.
