Are the playoffs still on

While the maths works, the play-offs is still the goal and with every win and time we climb up the table we can hope but ultimately there is better teams than us who will get there.
Same can be said for relegation, until we're mathematically safe it's going to be spoke of when we lose and drop down the table, but there are 3 worse sides than us so we'll be okay.
Mid-table obscurity awaits.
 
No, I very much doubt it. But it would be good to end the season with a decent winning run as that confidence will hopefully carry over into next season.
This summer is crucially important and the club really can't afford to get it wrong this time around.
 
Of course they are. We have to do less than what Sunderland did from this stage last year and only a bit more than Coventry. I don’t think we will, but we obviously could. It’s probably about 50-50 that someone in alongside us does. Just hope it’s not the Mackems 😂
 
If Hackney, Coburn, fry, smith and lenihan miraculously walked through the door and announced full match fitness then it would be possible to go unbeaten till the end of the season BUT. because they aren’t then sadly as long as we don’t get beaten up by QPR Brum and then Blackburn at home we will saunter towards mid table mediocrity
I think that’s the best we can hope for.

After watching us before Norwich got a man sent off we looked bereft of confidence and belief was shot, I was shocked because Norwich are average fayre at BEST and a normal Boro team under Carrick would’ve blown them away IMHO.

At least jonesy will be chomping at the bit on Saturday after being on the bench on Wednesday because we will need everyone we can hopefully 🙏🏻 playing better than Wednesday ‘pre the send off’ because QPR are clearly decent after drawing with West Brom and are fighting for their lives

I’m holding out hope that QPR somehow have an off day but doubt it, because I fear for us and just preying the likes of Engel draw some confidence from the goal because he was god awful (along with several others) before that critical sending off.

It begs the question; is Carrick a lucky manager ?
I think he is in that his outlook and demeanour essentially ‘makes’ his own luck 👌

Bodes well for the future me thinks….

I still think you're wrong on this.
After everyone had played 36 matches, Sunderland were 5 points off the playoffs last year
We're 10 points off, with a game in hand.

They really squeaked in with, I think, the lowest playoff total ever when 6th place has been the cutoff. Assuming we win the game in hand, that 2 point difference is still a big deal.
 
Nope. Just can't see us picking up enough wins. Way too inconsistent and sadly losing more than we win.

Would love for them to prove me wrong.

The difference was though, they were playing well, we look bereft of confidence if we are honest with ourselves, and until we played 10 men we couldn’t get the ball off them at home against an average team 🤷‍♂️

I'm not suggesting we can make it. 10 points to make up with a game in hand is a harder task than 5 points.
In fairness, they did do very well to get up there too, but were also a bit lucky that it was a very low bar to get over for 6th place.

6th place is a low bar this year to think that we have been mega average this season and with a good run could have a chance 🤷‍♂️
Playing the way we are we have 2 hopes, bob and no.
I sincerely hope I’m wrong. It won’t be the first time 😉🥴🤣
